I'll likely make it to about 70k ft/lbs this summer, all going well. 100,000 should be impressive, but the extra-long barrel might make it even more of a pain to shoot than my launchers. I guess my designs trade size for foil consumption - I'll need a 512 layer disk for full power shots

Have you fixed the firing valve problem that caused the "backwards recoil"?

Any idea what sabot material you'll be using for the tungsten dart? Tape just doesn't cut it for hybrids, I've found that out myself. I'm also a bit worried about your barrel; properly reinforced, it will take the pressure, but I've noticed another rather disconcerting effect on my reinforced ABS barrel - it is literally melting on high mix shots, and deforming severly when it does so. It seems like this effect is also thinning it at the breach side and causing deposits of solidified plastic inside the barrel which could interfere with projectiles' sealing capabilities on the way out.

Yeah but by isolating the sensitive components from the cannon and spraying painting everything, I should be able to store this thing outside, and the stand I'm designing is made to be fully mobile.

Thats a lot of foil you need there, maybe sheet metal would be worth a look.

The dart and sabot are designed like the armor piercing rounds the m1a1 Abrams tanks use. The sabot will be a combination of pvc pieces and foam and will fall away once the projectile exits the barrel (the dart is 3/4" in diameter and fin stabilized).

I feared that might happen but I wasn't sure. Now that you have confirmed my suspicions though, I think I'll opt for my secondary design in which the first 10 feet is 4" shc40 steel pipe and the rest is ABS pipe. I'm glad you mentioned that though.

im hopeless at making electronic stuff from scratch. i can make it once i know what to do, but figuring all this out, like what you need to wire it up and all this is just something i never got.

Nope lol. Way to much work and effort for me. Even if I did, considering the amount of time it took and the amount of money I could have made during the same amount of time doing other stuff, I would be forced to charge probably about 600 bucks for this (a combination of materials and man hours). So it would definitely be cheaper to work one out on your own.

The wiring is actually the simplest part. It's just basic electrical with switches, batteries, and valves. I could explain it in words, but a picture would be quicker. I'll try and work one out for you in the next couple days. Mind you this is much more complicated then it has to be, gauges and ball valves will get you the same results much easier and cheaper.

And I might consider doing a how-to eventually too, since this does make hybrid fueling much, much easier and the concept seems to draw a lot of interest.
