Ok, to start it off, I have read through about the last 2 years of topics here, but may have missed a link or 2.
a few questions:
1) I have heard of people using the gas from lighters, if that is a liquid (which from what i can see of it in lighters, it is,) then how does a sparker ignite it?
2) Is that lighter fuel the only simple way of making a hybrid? I really do not want to deal with metering propane, and i want to keep my future hybrid on the small side.
3) Has anyone ever tried making a paintball hybrid? it seems like that would be the fastest reloading, most powerful paintball gun that someone could make, with out getting all complicated in multiple chambers and regulators.
4) Lastly, could causing DDT on a low mixture have the same effect as a higher mixture w/out DDT? Would it even be possible to get DDT to happen?

1) It's in a liquid state in a lighter. Press the button to release gas but don't flick the flint. Is it still a liquid?
2) Use propane in a syringe. It's the cheapest way you can do it and still be very accurate.
3) Yeah, but PB's evaporate/turn into mist before leaving the barrel of the gun.
4) I wouldn't advise trying to get DDT to happen.

1) so when you buy it, is it in liquid form or gaseous form?
1-2) how do you get it into a syringe? i dont exactly get the whole gas in a syringe concept
3) is it the heat that evaporates them or what?

1) Solved by using propane.
2) Get a propane tank and torch, attach a hose barb to the torch head, and get a piece of hose. Put the hose over the hose barb, put the other end of it over the syringe, and open the torch valve. The syringe's plunger will get pushed back as the syring fills with propane.
3) I think it's more of the massive acceleration, or it could be the heat and pressure. I have no idea; I just know that they can't handle it.

ok, i get it that you are against the whole lighter fuel thing...
the deal is that i am trying to make a small, yet portable hybrid with decent power. I would rather not have to go to the trouble of filling up a syringe with this somewhat sketchy setup every shot. is there a way to make a hybrid that doesn't require tons of regulators and all sorts of gauges, but also doesn't require filling from a blowtorch with a hose attached to it? I know it may be asking a lot, but I'm looking for a simple, elegant design that doesn't take a huge time to set up.
all ideas are greatly appreciated.

Yeah, if paintballs can chop in guns DESIGNED to shoot them, they can definately chop when firing at supersonic velocities.

Summer Projects:
CO2 tank hybrid: Gotta fix the meter
Cane gun: Needs a pilot/fill setup
1.5" piston valve gun: Almost done

What a great way to put it!
Lentamentalisk, you're pretty mcuh screwed, unless you want a spray and pray hybrid. SOOO much fun, but SOOO scary.
Say your gun shoots when you spray in 2 seconds of hairspray. Therefore, you spray in 4 seconds, pump it to 8 psi, click the igniter, pump again, click again, and keep doing this until it shoots.

Uhh, i think you mean 14.7 psi...

ok, so back to the drawing board i guess. any links you guys have on a simple hybrid i could make? I really like the idea, but just can't stand the complexity of almost all of them, nor can i stand how huge they are. I will however compromise and make something somewhat complex, as long as it isnt huge... any links?
Nope. If it's so inaccurate you spray and count the seconds, there's no way you're going to get a 100% perfect 2.00000x mixture. By starting at 8 psi and working your way up to 20-25, it's almost certain you'll get ignition.iPaintball wrote:Uhh, i think you mean 14.7 psi...
If you dont want all the hassle, why not just make a realy great triggered burst disc with a mounted shock pump?Lentamentalisk wrote:ok, so back to the drawing board i guess. any links you guys have on a simple hybrid i could make? lol what about if you just hooked up a compressor, and kept firing the entire time it was filling, until it went off? that would be fun...
"go go go! click faster! you dont want to miss it! go go go, oops, the target fell over, what are we gona do? Keep clicking! you dont want to miss the right pressure!"
what chaos you could create with that lol

I think he means that there is enough fuel for the launcher itself and the compressor just provides a constant airflow to increase the amount of air until it is eventually the right mix.
