Chamber Volume
I have noticed many/most of the Hybrids are small in chamber volume. I was considering making one 3" x 14". Is this too big, what are the guidelines one should follow for hybrid chamber/barrel considerations, also looking to shoot golfballs a mile.

I've seen large hybrids before there is no real restriction in making one as long as your pipe is able to stand the added pressure of combustion... having never made one I probably shouldn't be giving advice...
It would seem as though the added cost of material usually would a lot of people from making the bigger hybrid cannon resorting to a large chamber pneumatic...however don't quote me

Dangerous words, my friend, dangerous words....fool safe:)
steel isn't really that expensive so i don't see the real reason why there aren't more "large class" hybrids. But when it comes down to pennies and nickels, i guess people just want a "hybrid" and not an "outstanding hybrid".

I've heard of people making them from sch 80 I don't know if its any cheaper or if its safe but it certinatly would be easier to put intsall chamber fan and a spark ignition.
yeah, I've heard of that too. It would be a lot cheaper but as of means of safety, it can't compare with steel, although it would work fine as a combustion. and it would be a lot easier to install the fan and spark ignition, thats one major advantage.

Good luck finding the pipe and fittings. I don't do much online shopping but around here it doesn't seem like anyone sells the stuff.... always a draw back.
Your right, compare to steel pipe sch80 doesn't compare, however with in reasonable pressures you shouldn't have to worry...

I'm sure your local pluming store has all the pipes/fittings you need to make a lethal potato gun.
and yes, with reasonable pressures, you have nothing to lose

Maynards? Home depot yes... I actually work at a hardware store but I gues there isn't a high demand for this stuff so no there isn't any one in the immediate area who carries the stuff...I've had peopel ask for it before we can't evne order it in from our warehouse go figure the only time I would ever get a discount...
hmm, thats weird. I don't know what else to tell ya then, if you don't want to shop online and you don't have any local stores who carry the parts, your at a dead end. you could try salvaging parts from what people throw away or go to a junkyard and try to look for/buy stuff.

I presume you mean sch 80 PVC (there's sch 80 steel pipe as well)Jared Haehnel wrote:I've heard of people making them from sch 80 I don't know if its any cheaper or if its safe but it certinatly would be easier to put intsall chamber fan and a spark ignition.
