Help making hybrid gun

Main Question:
Sorry to everyone if this question has been asked a hundred times, but I’m not really sure where to look when it comes to hybrid spud gun instructions. I’ve searched on google and on this website, but I haven’t been able to find anything useful that I could use (maybe I’m just looking in the wrong places). I’m mostly just looking for instructions that can give me a basic understanding of how exactly a hybrid spud gun works (with all the valves and gauges and all that), and from there on, I should be able to improve on it. I’ve goofed off with several of my combustion spud cannons but I want something with a little more bang!
Specifics:
Anyways I was wanting to make a hand held hybrid spud gun that’s made out of steel that resist at least up to 10x or 15x mix without DDT occurring. I’m hoping to do it with screw on thread parts, so no welding is required, but if that’s not possible, then the welding isn’t a problem. Mostly I’m just looking for blueprints and description on basic hybrids so I can get a basic understanding of how exactly they work, and then I can customize and improve from there on.

To sum it all up, my 2 main questions is where can I get imformation on how to make a hybrid? And can I use threaded screw on parts instead of welding the parts together when aiming for 10x or 15x mix without DDT occurring?

Welp, take your standard metered propane cannon. Instead of only injecting one shot of propane, now you inject two, and double the amount of air in the chamber. Voila! A 2x hybrid.

Now, all that added air is going to push your projectile out the barrel mighty fast, so you'll need something that can seal off the barrel at low pressures, but release at the high firing pressure. Enter the burst disk.

Granted I've never built a hybrid (no room), but it really isn't as arcane as people make it out to be. Or at least that's how it seems...

Oh, and having multiple spark gaps prevents DDT. The two (or more) flame fronts won't allow the reaction to acelerate quickly enough.

Hit the Wiki buttonat the top. Also there are many hybrid models shown in the hybrid showcase section. Also here's a nibble of fueling info.

All the information you need is out there, trust me. It sounds like you have some terminology down pat and have some superficial knowledge. But before heading down the hybrid trail, you need to know what the heck you're getting into. A 10-15X handheld hybrid is indeed a very ambitious project on several fronts. If you have to ask the kind of questions you are asking, I'm very sure you aren't really ready to tackle it.

How about sharing with us one of the cannons you've been "goofing off" with.

BTW, welcome to Spudfiles.

Take a look at my ME20H-41. A design like that could be scaled down slightly and made handheld, but the horrendous reload time is something of a bigger challenge. If you don't care about reload times, and just want the big boom and heavy recoil, a design like the ME20H would be fine. DDT will not occur unless under extreme circumstances, and you really don't need to worry about it. The only change I suggest is the use of a sturdier barrel material - while the reinforced ABS could hold up to the pressure, it was eventually incinerated from the inside when I added more chamber volume, rendering my carefully built barrel completely useless.

Here’s a link for anyone who wants to see my first spud cannon ever, the Nemesis. I’ll upload it to the showcase sometime later. And also, I know making the hybrid gun I'm aiming for is a challenge, but I’m not just going to jump into it without knowing what I’m doing or test anything first. I just needed a little push on where to look for the information I needed. Also DYI, I’ll take a look at your ME20H-41 later today, I have to pick up my friend from work in about 5 minutes so I don’t have time atm. Anyways thanks for your comments everyone.

I sure hope you know what you're getting into. Going from a 1x combustion gun to a 10-15x handheld hybrid gun without even knowing the power of a 2-4x mix, without knowing how to build a working hybrid? Please don't die.

noname, I didn't say I was going to just jump right into the 10-15x, I said "I’m not just going to jump into it without knowing what I’m doing or test anything first." Testing as in starting with 2-4x and gradually getting higher. And also, I'm not starting this project of mine for about another month, mostly because I need to save up some money, but also because I want to plan this carefully and make sure I do this perfect.

Hybrids don't get much more basic than this one. Designed to withhold 50x, operated normaly at 9x.
