i herd that for my hybrid cannon i am going to use 5x more air than i use propane. is that true

Basically, for a 5X hybrid you inject 5X as much fuel as for a standard (1X) combustion gun. You then pressurize with air to a bit more than 5 ATM. The link above gives more details.
For a propane powered gun there is always about 25 times more air than there is fuel.

It is worth noting that this is absolute pressure, and that we have one ATM (14.7 PSI) all around us. This can be subtracted from the required air pressure.

Good catch. If your pressure gauge reads zero in air then you pressurize to 4 ATM (your gauge reads PSIG). If it reads 1 ATM in air then you pressurize to 5 ATM (your gauge reads PSIA). Gauges that read PSIG are far more common.
