Provided By - Spudinator
I dont know if anybody has plans for a supersmall hybrid, but I sure do, and it is about halfway done. With a mostrous chamber volume of 6 CI, this thing is probably the smallest gun I have ever made compared to its power.
Specs:
6 CI CV
1" sch80 union
6" peice of 1" pressure rated pipe, rated to 600 psi
propane injected (also probably the smallest of it type)
BBQ' igniter, with a 127cc 3HP Briggs/Stratton spark plug located three fourths of the way up the chamber, on the bottom, like a grip.
schrader fill system
This gun is going to be very unique; the fuel meter is most likely the first of its kind, in size and function. It consists of a 1" long 1/8" pipe nipple with a schrader valve on one end, and a 1/8" ball valve on the other. after the ball valve is a 1/8" tee, one side connected to the ball valve, another to the gun, and the last side to a miniature pressure gauge. To fill it I will adapt my propane hose to fit a schrader fill valve for a compressor, so I can inject fuel into the meter quickly and easily, then I just open the ball valve to vent the propane into the chamber. to fill the gun with compressed air, I will add a schrader to the back of the gun, threaded into the 1" npt plug in the back. This design eliminates the need for two ball valse, and having to keep the propane on the gun. It can be set down or carried in a large pocket or backpack
It has a pistol grip made of a 1" tee cut lengthwise, like on Latke's and Mr. Plow's guns, with the BBQ' igniter sandwiched between the gun and the tee. Keeping the minimum amount of holes in the gun at 2, one for the sparkplug, and the other for the meter (of course this is not counting for the hole in the 1" plug in the back, but technically is not "part" of the gun, just an attachment). I am not going to drill or hoseclamp anything down, I am using electrical tape, for both ease of removability and low cost. Mainly everything but the fuel meter and shrader valve are installed and ready, I just need to get to parts tomorow for it, and as soon as that happens, its gonna' be a rockin'! This has proven quite a cheap hybrid, I am very surprised. total cost, not counting propane tank, torch head, and air chuck, is about $40, an all time low for fuel injected hybrids.
Give me some feedback about how you like the design, and feel free to ask any question you feel the need to ask.
I would also like to say I am sorry about the lack of pictures, I tried to describe it as best I could in words. My dad brought our camera to work the other day, and he just brought it home. I took all the pics, and was about ready to upload them to mypicgallery, when I noticed the usb cable was not where it was usually nestled in between all the other wires. I asked my dad about it, and it turns out he had brought it also, and had totally forgotten about it. Maybe tuesday or wednesday I will get them all uploaded. I will have the gun finished by then anyways.
