Here is a prototype of hybrid high-mix as it will suffer the 200x!
I do not know if it will, we'll see!

Material: it is all-steel high-pressure
Volume: 20cc
Caliber: 6mm
Ignition: resistive

wow it´s going to be impressive :)

I do not know ... the chamber volume is low ...
But I can increase it easily!
:D

Have you HDGT it? It is small but mix 200 is high so it should behave like a .22 cal. Also I would suggest hydro test it first according to HDGT's predictions. A resistor while burning will consume oxygen, have that in mind as well when you calculate the mix.

I had not thought of to consumption of oxygen ...
I HGDT but it crashes in the chamber to 395bar :(

hese are fitting service pressure of 350bar

err... you realise they'd probably have to be rated past 1600bar to take a full 200x mix ?

Larda's hybrid has 15mm thick high strength stainless steel walls...

Yes but the Larda has a big chamber!

I think you need to check your GGDT data. 200x will produce a lot more pressure than that if contained and that is for a 20cc chamber...

But the pressure they produce are the same

then it will explode ... :(

Maybe you should try it at 200 bar before going for 300 bar? Don't forget to stack a few sandbags on top of this hybid if/when you fire it.

On another note, I like this one! I'll be interested to see what becomes of this.

I was thinking that might be slightly under-built for a 200x gun. Definitely don't stand near it when firing.
If the fittings have a safety factor of 5:1, you're still pretty close to exploding.

Hunter, he's putting 200bar of fuel/air mix in and igniting it, meaning the pressure will jump to something like 1400-1600 bar when it combusts. Not sure if you caught that, just clarifying.

Hmm, I would encase that in something that would absorb the shrapnel in case it exploded. I just get the feeling, after seeing Larda's hybrid, that this won't hold up to as much pressure. Try it with a 100x mix before 200 just to get a general idea of the force its going to be shooting.

Be aware of the fuel used. If you are too concentrated at high pressure, the fuel may condense into a liquid.

On the ignition, if you use a relatively inert material, you can ignite the gas without burning the igniter and consuming the oxygen. Platinum wire, gold wire, and a few others are good candidates for ignition for metal wire, and Silicon Nitride is a good semiconductor. Unfortunately the nitride may be single use due to the explosion. This material is often used as an igniter in natural gas appliances.

Another solution is to use very little material as an igniter, so when it does burn, it consumes little oxygen. A very fine thread of copper wire works well when hit with a photo flash cap so it instantly vaporizes and starts the fireball.

Wrong smiley :D

hehe the hybrid bug has really bitten you eh! You will really have to sort out your ignition for this one. Be safe!
