Hi y'all
I am new here, and pretty inexperienced in Airsoft and BBMGs
I plan to make a vortex block BBMG, and need to know which type (Inline, Tee, Cap) would be the easiest, simplest, and/or efficient type.
I plan to make it purely out of pvc, not an airsoft shell, and I think I will stick with gravity fed.
If you have a nice tutorial or some tips, tell me.
I have saws, a drill press, dremel, but no CNC mill or anything crazy.
I plan to use 6mm BBs as ammo, and if possible Hop Up, so if you have a cheap barrel/ Hop Op setup please tell me.
To sum it up I am looking to mane a cheap, simple, PVC airsoft BBMG for use in skirmishes and maybe target practice.
Thank you far any help,
-Adam

cap is the easiest once, and best one to make. it will cost about 10 dollars, you need a 3/4in end cap, a 45 elbow, and a plug for the elbow. for the barrel i would get a cheap airsoft gun and strip it, or use a pen tube, a blow gun, and a hose barb to connect to the quick connect on your compressor, and some epoxy(loctite or jb weld)pvc glue and primer

1.drill two holes in the end cap 90 degrees apart, the size of your barrel
2.epoxy the barrel into one of the holes, have it flush with the inside of the cap, epoxy the blow gun into the other.screw the hose barb into the blow gun with this is done
3 put the 45degree elbow into the cap and glue it in with pvc glue/primer
4. once it is all dry put some bbs in the bend, put the plug in and hook it up to your air compressor, press the trigger to shoot

Yet another one of these posts, reminds me of the day when I did it.

Please use spudwiki and research before you post the thread! If you've done some research and got nothing, then ask. I'm sure that spudwiki and looking at other people's airsoft designs will help you.
It's Nerf or Nothing.

Don't start crying when I play this as my hobby, Paintball, Airsoft and Nerf are equally good hobbies, except you can play Nerf in public. Good day! Hmph!

I am sorry if this annoys you guys
I have looked at spudwiki, and other designs. What I am looking for is recommendations for where to buy/get supplies, esp. barrel and hopup, and which type of vortex block would be best.
Thanks!

A hopup is not necessary and may wear out. A barrel can be pulled from a crap-tastic airsoft shotgun (that seems to be the tradition), or order it off airsoftgi.

wrong.

A hopup is necessary if you are going to be skirmishing because it increases your range dramatically. They really do not wear down that fast in BBMGs and even if they do wear down its pretty much the same as not having one anyway. Also the only thing that would wear down is the bucking which are really easy to replace and really cheap. (little rubber sleeve)

Now yes, I would recommend at least using an airsoft barrel from an airsoft gun because of blowby effects. I would never recommend using brakeline because it has way too much blowby for airsoft bbs. I would not use bic pens or anything else that has an ID of 6.10mm or greater.

BTW I know you said gravity feed but if you want to increase efficiency I would highly recommend a spring and plunger, its really easy to make, improves feeding (you dont have to shake the gun to fire it), improves accuracy (dont have to shake the gun to fire it) and improves efficiency because air is gonna go out the barrel regardless, might as well improve the chance of a bb being chambered into the barrel. You can also fire it at any angle. (try laying down in a prone position and fire up with a hopper fed system.)

It's alright.

Umm you should look in the airsoft bbmg showcase. There are various different valves that have been made... and if you want efficiency you'll have to look harder because BBMG's are very air hungry and your air will drain in an instant.

a hopup is any device that is used to put backspin on the bb causing it to fly further, straighter, and have less of an impact from air resistance.

Some people make an adjustable barrel stop that works as a hopup while others buy an airsoft hopup.

now in the picture above the bbs go up into the hopup, you will need to make it so the bbs come from the back of the hopup rather than the bottom.

here is a hopup attached to a barrel.

are they only good on airsoft?
do they increase power or they only for distance and accuracy?

i skirmish with mine and it has no hop up, works just find for urban warfare games, and ranges of about 75 feet, before it turns into more of a shot gun

yeah bbmgs work great for CQB without a hopup but when you are playing woodland where everyone's guns average range is 120 feet or more.. it is nicer to have a hopup installed.

Thank you all for your help!
Keep it flowing!
What I gather is I should make a Cap BBMG, 3/4 inch, and possibly a plunger system
The barrel that was recommended on Airsoft GI looks great, I will probably use it if my neighbor, who has a crappy spring Airsoft gun, might sell it to me (He now has like three AEGs, shotguns... once I make this, I can challenge him)
The only thing I worry about is the design, I cant see how to fit a sideways PVC cap into a gun-shaped piece of plumbing.
I may try for a shotgun that has Hop Up and steal the shell and barrel.
Another thing; I of course cant carry an compressor onto an airsoft field, unless I am pretending to have a Mini-Gun
What do you guys use for an air supply?
Links to tanks, regulators etc. would be great.
Thanks again!
