As my first showcase (albeit not first cannon), I present to you my backpack Flamethrower bbmg (red airsoft pellets, nothing incendiary). I realize its leaning toward 'ghetto' on the cleanliness scale, and there are many aspects I would change in a later version, but here it is as it exists now.

The gun has a glued-in full-whole vortex made of a little piece off of a 2x4, which I would show you if I could. The chamber is made of a foot of 2" PVC, which I'm guessing could be shorter, but I can't really change it. As for performance, its a freaking beast, but I don't really have a comparison. Once I get my air-compressor for Christmas I can really test it out.

The backpack has 3 tanks, 2 are 4" diameter, and the thrid is 3", all 1' long. They're all connected by 1" pipe, and the entire assembly is strapped onto a frame from an old out-of-the-attic external-frame backpack. Total capacity is about 2.6 gallons, unregulated at the max of 125 PSI I plan to get it at once I get that compressor - a bikepump isnt the funnest source of air, thought it does give you some exercise.

I haven't really gotten a chance to use it in airsoft, but as far as my airsoft games go (I usually have the best gun with a springer shotty...), it will completely dominate as long as I have a source of air.

Things I would change in a future version include the mass of deadspace in the whole thing, a half-hole block would help, and there are many stupid neglegence flaws such as a belled chamber that makes the plunger pointless.

As far as firsts go, I'm quite proud of my little back-yard ass-whooper, and as far as my friends reactions go (".............F***.") I think they'll learn to respect it too.

Dude! how heavy is that thing? Its got to take you like 15 minutes to get it up to 125 psi with a bike pump. I don't know how you got a working vortex block out of a 2x4, it must have taken alot of sanding. I don't think it would be very fun to lug around playing airsoft. Have you tried shooting it at anything yet? You might need to tone the pressure down to avoid putting bbs in your friends skin.

Trust me... that is nothing near ghetto compared to some of the stuff submitted. I think it looks cool. How is the power? From your description, it seems to be high.

I like it . Lots of back pack chambers are that big daberno. yea repost the pics zip. the still work if you click on them though. Its not that ghetto it nedds a full paintjob though. Also is this your first bbmg. if so a grat first bbmg.

This isnt that ghetto, infact this is what my MP5 cloud (soon to come) is based one. Very nice BBMG. A paintjob would be more apealing to the eye, but its up to you.

My definition of ghetto is that the gun needs to have tape. So with out ugly tape, then the gun is fairly nice.

For all its usefullness its surprisingly light - ever wear one of those backpacks? makes 40lbs seem less - and the highest I've pumped it up is to 80PSI (I do still have some sanity left...), which still takes a good 5 minutes. I'm sorry for the pics, I still am a noob. It wasnt really a 2x4 now that I think of it, more like a 2x3 8). I took a little piece of the end that would fit in, then drilled a 1" hole with this gigantic bit I found in the garage. The barrel is a brass tube inside a pipe barrel cover thats just glued on. I did say its up there on the ghetto scale, but a paintjob should help fix that. I say the power is so crazy because this is the first bbmg I've ever even seen in person - that and my friend still felt it through multiple coats. And that little expletive was from my buddy who I keep bragging to about these things, even though he's the one whose dad's got the central 80gal shop air at 175PSI on demand. Again I just cant wait for Christmas - my dad even had me pick it out for him if I acted surprised. And that tank does help for some convenient back-protection, for its surprising lack of encumberance. And to hell with smooth transitions or relevant ideas.

For your pics: go to http://www.photobucket.com, register yourself (if you havent already) save your pics on your computor, then upload onto photobucket and there you can generate a code for message boards. Get the code by copying it and paste to it a post and your all done.

how long does you tank last?

The tank doesnt last all that long, dropping maybe 5PSI every 2-second burst. I've yet to seriously use it in our airsoft, but I still anticipate some prompt ass-whooping ar far as our games go. And I've already tried the links from my Imageshack that say forum, and even the one that said alternate forum. I'm not really in the mood to remember yet another password...

Good job! I'm surprised you chose to build a whole backpack rig for your first gun. I'm in the process of building my first BBMG myself.
