Air Rifle Repair Questions...

Well, Just recently got an interesting surprise...
Most of my childhood airgun collection was sold or traded for stuff a long time ago, or eventually broke and got scrapped.

But I recently, out of nowhere, had my Sheridan CB model 5mm similar to This one returned to me.
I had loaned it out and the guy,loaned it to his friend (IDIOT) who had pumped it much more than the maximum 8,
blown out a seal (first question???),
Then after many years, he dropped it back off for me...

...I've since learned people NEVER treat YOUR stuff like THIER stuff.
They're like monkeys I swear, ...(don't want a dog now and babysitter in future...FORGET IT (someone would probably die)!!!

Wondering if anyone knows of which parts or a repair for it???
I am pretty mechanical, just haven't broke it down yet.
(advice on disassembly?)

Oh, also maybe if there's a way to convert it and connect it to a CO2 bottle instead???

Any help or info on this is greatly appreciated.
Maybe I should look for an airgun forum, but I spend too much time on SF's... 8)
BTW, this is something sentimental to get working again...somehow.
(I liked my springer a little better, it's long gone though)...

I had a rifle that was from my father's childhood that he gave to me, but it worked for a little while, then stopped working. My dad went online and found a kit that had the seals for the gun. Since he's a gun smith he was able to easily take it apart and put it back together again. now the gun works better than ever!

When I work the pump on it, I could hear a leak,
Not to smart to do, but when I put my finger over the barrel,
pressure builds (inside the barrel)...It's leaking right into the barrel.

Also judging by the trigger pull, I'd guess it uses a hammer piloted piston valve(???)

Yeah, I don't like keeping anything sentimental,
this is one exception and maybe I could pass it on to a nephew or young relative. (After shooting it a few times, of course)
Any idea where that kit was ordered from??? 8)

sorry it was a while back that the gun was fixed, my dad just replaced all the seals and it worked fine.

It's a spring-driven-hammer piloted poppet-valve.

Barrel leak = bad valve stem seal
Palmer Pursuit shop should have Sheridan CA valve stems that should work.

I'm not very familiar with that particular model 'Dan, I'm far more familiar with Sheridan's paintball guns, but they use the same valve for the most part.


Pictures of the actual gun would be a ton of help, but if you could provide me with the location of manufacture off the side of the gun I should be able to figure out more readily what is needed to fix it.


I just resealed on OLD Sheridan Blue Streak, Pyramid Air offers the reseal it, but depending on how old your gun is, it may not have the right parts.

Location of manufacture should give enough information to determine age.

@The Judge: One side has "Sheridan Products Racine, WIS."
Other side marked "-C Series-Made In USA-"

It's not as fancy as the pic I linked to, but similar. (straight forend, no plastic buttplate)
Handbook for it is long lost, But now I'm thinking maybe it is a "blue streak"

Got the stock off but either (one of two) pins above the trigger will need to be removed, OR can remove other pin to access internals from the end near the muzzle?

Confusing because, prefer not to mess with the trigger (clock parts???), and seems like the place I need to get to is inside the tube everything is mounted solidly (permanent) to. (???More Info Please!!!)

BTW, the trigger latches on the trigger and hammer remind me of a sten diagram...maybe I'll copy it for hammer trigger design like one of JSR's

@ Judge, Do you think This kit will fix my problem or could I just order a "valve stem seal" alone?
I was hoping to stick a new o-ring on something...(Low $$$$ to spend right now)

Looks like a good kit, lots of info even dissassembly instructions on the site and even a Help line #!!!

If you could retap the reservoir tube...this would make one sweet pilot valve....

www.mac1airgun.com look into their extended billet steroid tune. they do beautiful work, and a properly cared for Sheridan will outlive more than one owner.

Get the kit, valve stem alone will do you no good with out the tool, and a PPS valve stem will be their Dyna-Valve... you're looking at $20 for the stem and $20 for the tool.


The kit you linked to from pyramid air is, indeed, the right kit.
Kit has the magic tool that lets you actually open the valve to fix it.


As for converting it to a bottle, don't.
What you have is an antique, and one of the finest air rifles ever made, please do not butcher it.

I got it when I was young, liked the mannlicher stock, oversized trigger gaurd, classy solid design, and I liked the "wallop" the larger heavier pellets as a change from higher velocity .177, although the .177 dropped off less for flatter long range trajectory.
IIRC, just before I got it Benjamin and Sheridan had merged, but it's stamped "Sheridan" (?)...Luckily parts wise.

Seen those for other stuff but had no idea there's one for Sheridan that goes to 900FPS!!! That would be awesome from .20cal (5mm).
Probably includes the part I need too!
Dang! need 50 more bucks to spend AND then a scope too...

It would, but I don't know if my younger nephews can stay out of trouble with a .50 or .75 cal. to "plink" with...
Maybe there's a somehow to add a small fitting and use it for dual-purposes.(?)
Lately I'm day-dreaming of a semi-full or burst PB or air pistol for piloting something!!! 8)

Thinking of a bullpup or telescoping stock design, but also saving the old one and not modding it much besides the "steroids kit" maybe. 8)

I also had a Crosman AIR-17 styled like an M-16, (it was like my own personal...Vietnam... ) before the .177 springer, and the Sheridan... Had a bunch of pistols too, ...Had forgotten, I loaned my crosman 357 to another friend who promptly got it confiscated by police...
