RJB INDUSTRIES: BBMG vortex (CNC made vortex block)

by RJB INDUSTRIES
Hi everybody, this is my BBMG vortex that I was talking about.
The vortex block made from aluminum, 3cm in dia. with a CNC.
8mm brass tube for barrel, sadly it´s too big for a 6mm bb, so part of the air were wasted. not as powerful as it would be with a better barrel.
video soon.

That just made my day. I don't think I've ever seen such a lovely component hidden inside a build which is otherwise so spectacularly ugly and half-assed. In fact, I think this may be the first launcher posted here to simultaneously contain CNC milled parts, and be eligible for the coveted Ghetto Award.

What do you think, everyone? Should he get the trophy?

8mm!? That's more like a sand blaster! Maybe save the beautiful vortex block for a nicer gun

Unlike my fellow spudder brethren here I think that it looks space age and cool, :D beautiful work on that vortex block btw!
and 8mm? thats an awful lot of air wastage, especially for a gun like this. but apart from the few design flaws I think that you have done a grand job on that, well done :D

stick the rest of the launcher together with about 5 rolls of electrical tape
I know why he did that >>>

ohh well it isn't that bad

I designed the vortex block for him and he used a CNC to make it while I made my with fiber glass. Here in Portugal there aren´t decent pvc tubes as in USA or rest of europe, It wasn´t easy to make this one actually and he did some effort to make it, not bad compare to my http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/simple- ... 21775.html(now I have it painted and added a adjustable detente)
so some respect plz, the lack of pieces are our biggest problem.

RJB,
I'm sure you've noticed some of the crap posted here on SF. Some members glue 2 pipes together, refer to it as a "BUILD" then proceed to "High Five" each other....ugh! You put a lot of effort into this.
Good job!

Ok, he did put a lot of effort into it.... but most of the effort was spent unrolling electrical tape :P

I'll bite: Why did you completely cover this cannon with tape?

Now normally the members here criticize when builders put 1 or 2 parts on with tape, however this cannon looks to be cosmetically covered with tape...

If you search enough I'm sure you can find a barrel liner to get your bore diameter closer to 6mm.

Sorry guys just because it's covered in tape doesn't qualify it for the Ghetto Award. The vortex block being machine made disqualifies it. Ask sgort87, I'm sure he will tell you close to the same thing.

looks like velocity3x is the only decent guy here, compare to rest of you, engineers, owners of lathes and milles, we are just teenagers for god´s sake  and he is very new to pneumatics. Even through all the taping(I have told him), how many bbmg here has a CNC machined vortex block build for perfection? half of the bbmgs here are worse than this.

This is a standard build BBMG, Burnt Latke's original gun from years ago;

I just think its a bit peculiar to precisely machine a vortex block, then half-ass the rest of the gun by using tie straps and electrical tape.

Fnord wrote:RJB, How bout you get that vortex gun together and show us some shredded targets, mmkay? The block itself looks very well-crafted so I look forward to seeing what the rest will look like.

Ack, I didn't mean you had to throw something together in a couple hours :P

Seriously, the block is so awesome it makes the build as a whole rather hilarious.

Tell you what, just make the 'functional' chamber from standard pvc, then mark and cut some 2 mm aluminum plate for an outer shell. You can even make it in a single piece and run it through a brake press to put the angles in. It'll save you much time drilling and bolting.

Gaps can be filled with bondo or something.

Also, if you can't get a better barrel, drill some progessively smaller counter-sunken holes in a steel plate and use a lathe to push/pull the barrel through them. You should be able to reduce the diameter effectively like this.

Edit- wait... wtf Poland why the hell does that have its own wikipedia article!?
