Machined pengun - Dimply

Miniature guns are novelty custom, unique, and sometime downright crude! Common construction materials often include pill bottles or pens. Show us your work!

I don't normally specifically recommend marine epoxy, for example the Araldite I use is not marketed as such - however anything made to survive in a marine environment is usually more hardwearing and reliable.

Ah. I keep two kinds, one which cures in 90 minutes and is very thick, and another that cures in a bit over two hours and can be heated to the viscosity of water. They're both Devcon products.

Sexeh!

Looking forward to the final video ;) and I hope you've glued it in the meantime, you still haven't fired your first pneumatic!

Thanks :)

Ok my address is...
Sorry, the wife already have an option on it.... :D

Looking forward to the final video
Final, what do you mean? There's the dimpling... then there's the firing!
I have a slo-mo camera eager to shoot some damages :D Even if it is tiny damages...
But my next project will have more more balls... wait, just wait...

and I hope you've glued it in the meantime
I want to make a photo of all the pieces prepared for assembly. THEN I'll glue... patience... :D
I still have a little bushing to make because the original cap from the schrader that I have is too loose in my aluminum cap. And also cut the barrel to length.

Final construction video :P ;)

Speaking of shooting videos, POLAND_SPUD recently shared an interesting youtube channel (some pest hunting, don't click if offended by dying vermin) using a camera to film through the scope, started out with an improvised mount (I don't approve of the rifle being pointed at things not intended to be targets, or the proximity of some shots to electrical fixtures but hey, if it's his property...) but now using a commericial item:

Orion Steadypix Deluxe, also available as the Seben DKA2

A bit pricey for what it is, but definitely offers some interesting possibilities, especially in conjunction with a high speed camera.

Here is the latest 3D model rendering of LeMaudits infamous Dimply Pen Gun.

It is now available as a Sketchup file for those that would like to have it.

Any other CAD file formats that are desired, please PM request.

Beautiful Duane! I never thought so much sophistication would be applied to the pen gun concept when I made my first crude model :)

JSR;

We have only scratched the surface of future projects.
Now that LeMaudit had convinced you get a mill/lathe, you are open to a lot more complex projects.

Send me your hybrid cartridge dimensions and I will proceed with that.

My first thought was "This should be distributed to airgun and gunsmithing forums" but if someone took the design and turned it to a commercial venture it would certainly piss me off.

Yep, a lot more in the pipeline ;)

Once I settle on a design you'll definitely get a CAD request - if it's something I have to make a lot of, I'll need it as a reference!

Hoooo... very nice dewey1!

I never thought so much sophistication
Because you didn't had the sophisticated tools... yet
Now you'll see, you'll want that extra feature, not because it make the work more complex, but because you know you'll have fun building it

I have a different way about that. I don't mind if someone take one of my ideas and make a business out of it. It happened more than once in the past, yet I still have a good live, enough to reach my standards for happiness.
Starting a business is hard work, and if I really wanted to do it myself I had all the opportunities first hand  Life is too short for regrets...

Now, not a thanks would make me call him an ungrateful bastard, but still I would not be pissed about that. I would just fell like a pessimistic guy regarding human nature, that was just proved right! :?
