Machined pengun - Dimply

Miniature guns are novelty custom, unique, and sometime downright crude! Common construction materials often include pill bottles or pens. Show us your work!

Cheers for all the positive comments, again thanks must go to LeMaudit for "twisting my arm" as dewey-1 put it and making my wallet considerably lighter :)

It actually is, but I took photos on a dark background...

I would recommend this as a project for anyone getting into machining, I now have a much better idea of what designs should look like and have some grasp of basic techniques, and a nice little pen gun at the end of it too.

I'm waiting for an order of o-rings to arrive so I can try it out properly, it's all very pretty but pretty still is as pretty does :D

Edit: reglued the barrel, some final polishing, some better photos:

All right.

Took me almost a week to find the time to do a brass sleeve and cut the barrel to length. :?

Very nice! I cut some small grooves in the barrel to help with adhesion but in reality all the epoxy is soing is sealing because the stress is taken by the shoulders.

Bring on the high speed footage :D

Assuming quality materials, good machining tolerances (don't remember exactly how thick the walls are but should be fine. Thread engagement is an important one), and very very careful use of epoxy...

Yes

Built to the measurements on LeMaudit's drawing, minimum wall thickness is around 1.5mm so it should perfectly safe at 1000 psi.

The only thing I would change is:

Keep a round edge on the valve plug at the join point. Like I did for the nose. Better seal, and better forgiven for slightly different sizes.

Bit of a warning for the below, quite funny, but a bit offensive.

So there will be bawlz then

Put a silencer in then you'll have...

And great work, it's good to see it come to fruition.

This made me want to throw my pengun in the trash. Excellent work LeMaudit, this has really turned into a work of art, but I want to see this at high pressure, if my old pengun can take 800 yours can surely take much more.
Yeah, it's that important.

It lives!

Finally :D

A bit of advice on the pump, it's much easier to do it vertically on a hard surface. I also added a PVC pipe section to mine as a handle to make it more comfortable:

Y HAZ 1 BANG!!!

And a loud one at that :?
(note to self: avoid trying pneumatics at 8h00AM)

I had to beat Jack for the first damage picture , so here it is:

400 PSI

Yes... the second try was ghettoish, with a toothpick and some tape.
I was quite surprised the ball bearing go through both sides... but even more when the toothpick did the same

I don't think I'll have the time today for a video, but I'll prepare some epic damage slo-mo :D
The new camera is waiting just for that...

 Wait that I'll machine a tiny MiniBoy and put it on orbit.... or maybe aim at a sand beach the other side of the world

But I know already what the wife will think:

"hmmm... perfect for my purse!"
