Spring Piston Bolt.
I may have seen this somewhere else but I have an idea for it. The pin that sticks out the back could be used with a trigger to hold it back and release it, or with gatling style bolt action, honestly I think it would be cool to have a true potato gatling gun, not like the one that claims to be one but is just 6 guns strapped together and doesn't even rotate. The trigger operated version could use a manual bolt or something like what is used in electric airsoft guns. This basically runs like any standard bolt, it doesn't need a piston which is why I mainly like it, and can be used in rapidfire. The spring pushes the bolt forward when released allowing the air from the chamber to enter the holes in th bolt.

That should work, but it would need O-rings and it might be difficult to get a seal on the pin but the idea is sound. I created a picture of basically this design with a little change, I made it so that the pin doesn't pass through the chamber. (the green dots are O-rings and the light blue is the pressurized chamber)

No, the barrel and the chamber are both fixed. There is a bolt that is not fixed and seals against the barrel and a piece of pipe in the chamber. This allows for the bolt to be moved forward so it no longer seals against the peice of pipe and exposes venting holes that then allow air into the barrel.
or better yet, get a small cordless electric scewdriver and dissasemble it down to the motor and wires ( cordless motor = DC current = portable) then make a nice box (housing) for the motor to hide the ghetto look of a drill attached to a spud gunAtlantis wrote:Thank you for explaining that for me. I also thought that a single barrel gatling bolt could be between where the clip is and the chamber, I would rig an electric screwdriver to rotate it.

are you going to start building this cannon? id love to see a true rotating barrel gatling gun potato cannon in the works!
I have to find a screwdriver first, preferably one with a trigger type button. I will most likely trim as much of it off as I can, which probably isn't much. I will probably do this after I get my license which I hope is soon, (paranoid mother.) I also have to find a place to get O-Rings, my friend's uncle owns an auto shop. I will most likely build it with him. The first one won't have multiple barrels though, it will be more like a single barrel prototype to test the valve bolt.
