Compressed air cartridge

So I was thinking the other day (And gave myself a headache!) and a thought popped into my head. It would be cool to have interchangable, pre-made PVC tubes with compressed air, kinda like a 12gram CO2 cartridge. It may be impractical and hard to do, but it might make portability easier for pneumatics that aren't too portable. Carry a couple tubes already filled with air and you are set. One problem might be the overall size needed to provide the necessary pressure. I don't know...not a seasoned pneumatics guy. Any thoughts?
I'd hade the same thoughts a while ago( on homemadeweapons forum) , and indeed it would be really awsome to load a cartridge with air into the gun. FiveseveN had a really good idea and drawed some chematics. Basically a coaxial in a downsized scale, without the barrel. Didn't try it out though. Maybe a really small one-shot cartridge loaded into something of a revolver would be the way to go? can be a problem to obtain the high preassures needed in such a small chamber though, and not to mention the valve

compressed air cartridges...hmmm...what size of cartridge? Home-made, modified, or factory? What size(s) of projectiles? Amount of air released with each valve cycle? What are you attempting to acheive? I can think of a few area's where that would be a most excellant idea,Bill...then on the other hand ther are other ways to fight off boredom than to think to much.

i made a co2 powered cannon (for paintball, like an over sized shotgun) and it runs on 12g co2s. I used a co2 quick change (about $15) and screwed it into a fitting on the back of the cannon. I get one shot per co2, but its really cool and even works as a potato cannon (it has enough power). I calculated the rosovoir size so that the 12g would put ~100psi. It is a 10" resovoir made of 2" sch 40 pvc pipe. It works great, has a pretty good kick with wax molded "bullets" and is really portable. I just finished it today and was enjoying launching wax a couple hundred feet in the air. It also has a 2" barrel. The firing mechanism is a modified 1" watermaster sprinkler valve. Ill post pictures soon.
The idea of a compressed air CARTRIDGE is to use it for one shot only, then replace it with another one

pvc tubes. each having a one shot capability.each one has its own set-up of hardware.bulky.expensive.disorganized...haven't yet cast my vote but that would cast a NO vote.
Right off the mark there is the implication that one would be carrying a knapsack...so instead of multiple set-ups with repetetive hardware costs why not fabricate a small tank system.hose fed to a 'gun' with (a) valve(s),gauges etc., organized,efficient,effective,cheaper...more likely to be a YES vote...also --and this is almost a reverse transgression of what I just typed, given that there is a back-pack involved anyway,4-5 tubes ran in series,providing for multi-shot capability,one could just as well have three or four 'mini-tanks' put together,hose ready.
take whatever size of choen tube,rip lngth wise a piece,cut pieces from that ,attach to "board"w/ countersunk screws ,then glue those sections to tubes.cap &run lines as desired,etc...
