Hey all. I've decided to do stun gun ignition instead of piezo... got these schematics... look pretty simple. Just a noob question tho, why do stun guns (that you buy) have those test electrodes? are they necessary... cause I would like to build a gun without those and just the charge electrodes. I plan on putting the chip in a separate project box and don't want to worry about that "test spark". Thanks for dealing with my noob question. Cheers

P.S. my brother is actually the one building this chip because he knows alot more about electronics than I ever will, so if I sound like I don't know what I'm talking about.. it's probably cause I don't

They are there for "testing" because if you werent in contact with something conductive all that electricty cant be discharged. Now when that happens Im not sure exactly what it does but I understand that it can ruin the components within the stungun. So when its not in contact with something, it simply jumps the test electrodes which wont leave those wires with all that electricty which could harm it. Just a suggestion but just buy a stungun of ebay (got mine for 18$). But if your one of those do it your self people, do it yourself.

ok, well thanks for the tip. unfortunately i live in Canada and stun guns are pretty illegial up here so I dont want one delivered to my door... kinda thought building one would work best... hmmm, i guess i'll just get my bro to slap together that schematic and see what happens... its like $5 to make... so might as well attempt it i guess. what about disposable camera ignition? very easy to make... but i've heard they are a pain in the ass when it comes to reliability.

Yo can build a stun gun from a disposable camera with flash like talon said but it's reliable I think... Anyway fire it a few times and see It's real easy to assemble. Don't know how much it costs though but you only have to buy a camera or get an old one from somewherem

Yea, the stung gun camera is easy to make, but you have to touch the wires running from it to something to complete a circut and cause the spark. A spark wont jump the gap between wires, you'd have to make a igniting system in the gun.

yah those camera things work good they shock pretty good though and they incinerate the electrodes after a while and have to be replaced
