could you use a modded rail gun set up with nothing between the rails for ignition for a combustion?

(there is a different link but i have to shower and go to bed :P )

O my hell....

This is like that post from way back asking if he could use the static from his TV to ignite his mini. Holy shit just get a BBQ sparker, seeing as people dont have railguns laying around.

So um basically make a um I think it's called a spark gap!!! Railguns just use capacitors, just use a camera.

In spark strips, you need high voltage to jump the gap.
Railguns need high current, with moderate voltage (Powerlabs' first railgun used 100.000A and 3200V).
So how are they similar?
Plasma in the initial railgun you reffered to is generated by ohmic heating of the projectile, so using it without a projectile would never work at normal voltage levels in normal atmospheric conditions (or inside a chamber, where breakdown voltage is even higher). In a nutshell, a railgun cannot work without its projectile. At all. It won't even discharge.

I thought you knew these things, man :?
It's pretty basic.

Come on man? What's this topic for? Can't you just by a stun gun?Or you just think your gun will look cool bacause of the capacitor block bigger then the chamber?Or you wan't the slowest reloading weapon in the spud gun history.
