This is my first real topic here...

This is a hybrid concept. After seeing a lot of union explosions on hybrids, I decided to devise a way to eliminate them all-together. This is my original idea, and probably will be the first prototype on my hybrid cannon whenever I build it. The good thing about the idea is that if it fails or doesn't seal well enough, the barrel can be sawed off at the base and a cam-loc or union can be installed.

Here's the drawing of my design.

Addmittedly, you are "only" talking about making O-ring grooves in PVC, but that's still 4-6 minutes of work/groove if you are being quite productive.

Perchance one could use a permenant rubber face on the to-barrel coupler? This would seal in a fashion similar to the familiar barrel-sealing diaphram valve, allowing one to not use O-ring grooves.

If you epoxy the burst disk in...... Let's just say you'll be sad when you take the whole thing apart again because of one little burst disk.

I guess I didn't say this was the prototype. I was thinking of making about 5-10 of these and using them up, then devising a way to remove it, take out the old burst disk, and clamp in a new one. I think some a track removed from the side of the assembly could house some latches that could allow this to happen. I could just use a permanent rubber seal...

Well you have a threaded plug on the back so you could just take the barrel off and use a stick or something to push the "schmunion" out the plug.

My idea for a re-usable platform would be somthing like a camloc lathed down to fit inside the 2" SCH-80, with the O-rings and everything cut into it, but first build is gonna be the disposable platform, to see if it's even feasable or even safe, for that matter... :!:
