Are you honestly up for such a challenge? You say that you want to make a launcher but don't know where to begin, but then say, after receiving a suggestion by one of the most respected members here, that it's not challenging enough.

You want challenge for a Nerf launcher, try this.

No offense taken to be honest ;) I'm in a charitable mood

For an absolute beginner even a simple ball valve pneumatic might be a challenge, as with every hobby it's always best to start at the low end, especially if you're not familiar with the construction techniques. If you want to start with something a little more advanced then there are plenty of ideas floating around on the forum, go ahead and impress us :)

I understand. Maybe what you should do (which always earns a crapload more respect) is to study and learn what can and cannot be done, then draw up some kinds of plans. There will almost certainly be someone here who has tried it, and will then be able to guide you in the right direction.

As was mentioned, something that is a little more challenging than a basic ball valve, which will yield fantastic results along the same lines as you have stated you wanted, is to go with a sprinkler valve.

My book, The Sprinkler Valve will show you just about everything you need to know about them.

Good luck to you.

OK lit up!! we want to see a workable plan with your next question. We've thrown you plenty of information on where to get started. Time to put your brain and some common sense to work.

You can draw your plans on paper in pencil/ink pen or use a computer program like MS Paint or better. Then post it here and we will help you with it from there. You can do it!
