I'm a complete noob in spud area so please gimme a hand.
I would like to build a pneumatic rifle that would be about the size of a normal rifle. I understand everything exept the fireing mechanisem. I really don't understand how the ball stays in the barrel even if you point if at the grounds and another thing I didn't understand is how to build up pressure because if I let it out of it's container it will just slowly push the projectile out and it won't go far (or will it). So anyway can someone explain it to me or give me a link to an explenation or something
Thx in advance...

"let it out of it's container"
Unless you do something silly like trying to expell your projectile by filling the gun. (IE, put a shraeder valve on the end of the barrel, point it at an object, and connect your compressor directly to that)
... you'll get pretty good velocities. These velocites can be calculated <a href="

Browse the wiki a bit, starting <a "href=

As to retaining the projectile, some put a magnet on the side of the barrel. Other than that, most people just use tight fitting projectiles.

I would of thought that the spud wiki would of broke it down enough for you or I guess not. Let me try to explain the basics of a pneumatic (compressed air) gun to do that just forget about everything for a second. How a pneumatic cannon works is you have five basic componets air source, projectile, chamber, valve, and a barrel. What you do is take your air source and hook it to your chamber and pump it up to a desired level. Then when you open your valve that allows the air in the chamber to rush out the barrel and push the projectile out. For me it was easier to understand how the gun works, then how to make the gun. Because I understood how it works now I dont need to ask as many questions. If you dont understand I dont really want to take the time to break it down even more. Sorry to say this but if you dont grasp at least something after this you are stupid.

no problem, we're here to help, nothing wrong in asking simple questions, it shows you're trying to learn more. the problem comes when some asses just ask for plans, they're not learning anything, and are likely to blow themselves up.
