hes anyone ever talked to a friend about spudguns around people who have no idea how they work?
its really weird i always feel as if they have no idea about what I'm talking about. they do but i wonder if they are wondering what it means. I mean i hold an intelligent conversation about spudguns and then i feel stupid.
does anyone else feel this way?

Yeah... whenever I talk to people about spudguns, they either (a) think I am building a spudgun out of a piece of PVC pipe and using gunpowder (b) think whatever I build shoots like 20-30 feet, and it wouldn't hurt to get hit with it (c) believe they know EXACTLY what I am doing, and believe they could do it themselves (d) have NO idea what I am talking about.
Its frustrating sometimes...
I am actually pretty surprised how disinterested my friends are in spudguns. I mean, I'll demonstrate that a paintball can be shot through a 2 liter soda bottle, a tshirt can go through thin pieces of plywood, etc, but most of my friends would rather play with my propane torch or something...

Heck ya.
I like to show them some of my diagrams and ask them what they think about it. They show a sort of polite ignorance and they possibly don't care at all. That's when I stop.

i have a friend who thought i was a stupid person that just talked about cannons as though i was talking about going to the store, but when i finally got him to come see them he was blow away and now he wont shut up about them.

yeah. when i talk about spudguns, most people just say "youre crazy, is that all you ever talk aobut" and walks away. if its people that know the awsome power of my spudguns, hoever, they are always asking me for plans and stuff. so far, im pretty sure im the only kid in my class that owns a spudgun. i hear one of the new freshman next year is into it, (in fact, he has a hybrid), so yeah, ill talk to him
i agree, it is pretty annoying when you have to explain how a piston valve works 26 times, and then they still dont get it........

wow. at my school, we ahve a small class (67 kids i think) and all of them know aobut metered propane and piston valves by now, and how they work, thanks to me. suprisingly, i didnt loose all of my popularity and shit wile telling everyone this...............
yeah, so if kids at my school are gonna build a tater cannon, it will most likely be a piston-valved pneumatic.......

Orange: that would be two of my friends, both pretty creative, but not to great at building things
Green: yep, only 1 kid in the school, has a cannon, and i built it for him.

Well, at my school I guess most of the guys knew what a potato gun was. I'm guessing about 5 people of 800 had actually built a basic combustion.
I'm the only one who has ever made a pnuematic(a crappy one at that), a hybrid or a combustion with a fan in it.(edit: Also, I've had a functional inline vortex gun since the contest started, but I want to make it pretty before I post it
)
I tried disscussing hybrids with some stupid grease monkey(he owned a combustion), but he insisted I was going to blow myself up unless I used half inch thick steel hydralic cylinders for a chamber. I told him he really didnt know what he was talking about and that was the end of that.
I went to a seperate school called CCCTC as part of my school day, and took a networking class there. Suprizingly, my teacher had heard of spudfiles and knew someone who made a modded sprinkler valve gun. He said he moved recently(I immediately though of BTB), but he said he moved to columbus ohio so I figured I'd never see the guy or find out who he was.
Anyway, I graduated recently so I'm done with those idiots

Only 400 students! My school has about 1800. You must know everybody.SpudBlaster15 wrote:In reference to my school, I would say...
80% of individuals have heard of potato launchers, but have no idea what they are.
15% know what they are, but have never constructed one.
3% have actually used/constructed a basic launcher.
1.5% have actually seen a metered propane powered/pneumatic launcher (mine).
0.5% have actually constructed a metered propane/pneumatic launcher.
We have 400 students.

Well only about 3% of 1500 students at my school have seen a basic combustion, they all think its weird sort of and don't understand the power when they ask if I can shoot them. But im the only one in the school that i've heard of owning/building a pneumatic.
No one at my school has ever built anything more than a basic hairspray combution. its actually kinda sad. and whenever i tell anyone about one, they think i am exagerating (which i am not).
I introduced my friend to combustions a while back, and he loves them and has made his own. I am still the only one who has even attempted a pneumatic. and when I try to explain a pnuematic to non spudgun people, they think that ive lost my mind
