Sweet. I hope they make it worth your while, this sort of hard-won knowledge is not something you should be dispensing gratis.

Speaking of tools, finally I has workbench! Set up the lathe and mill on pine boards so they can be moved around for comfort, all behind 1/4" polycarbonate ostensibly to protect customers from flying tool debris :D

Your adventure and the nailer guy incident caused me to raise the subject at home.
Like..would my family tag along if the opportunity arose..??

My eldest said: "How will we get my rifle ( Li'l Shat') over there..?"

Right..
Like that would be first priority...

Then he said: "I'd like the open space so I could ride a dirtbike...but don't they have dangerous wildlife there?

I said: "yeah...like bears"
"and kangaroos!!" my wife added..

I looked at her expecting her to burst out laughing ...but it turns out she was quite serious....

So...please JSR...watch out for those "Dange-roos" up there...

LOLOL!

I haven't seen any bears yet. Though LeMaudit has discouraged me from following my desire to go spudding in the forest... besides, nothing to spud with yet. Can't wait to get that chuck spinning :D

If you have the opportunity to move your life here, for heaven's sake do it!

Doug Stanhope is still right:

Maybe I missed it, but where are you working JSR? Is this where LeMaudit works? I remember you saying something about going over to help with the 3D printer business you two have.

LeMaudit has taken over an airsoft - paintball store, which I am currently helping to organise. This gives me a steady basic income, enough to pay the rent, beer, gas etc. In the meantime as you can see I've set up the lathe and mill in the shop, the idea is to manufacture custom parts and airsoft - paintball devices under the umbrella of the business set up for the 3D printer.

Gave the little wheels their first spin on this side of the Atlantic today, made some custom tools for dismantling airsoft magazines. Nothing spectacular but it was good to make swarf again :D

Silencers are a big no-no, Canadian law is very explicit on the matter and business has to be kept legitimate.

Even on airsofts? ( i ment for airsofts) because all the gas guns have a sound almost equivalent of a .22 . In the USA we only have laws about suppressors on firearms

That's pretty sweet! You've got a good setup to do custom orders for SF members now as well.

Shipping to the US will certainly be cheaper :) now that this is my livelihood and not just me pissing around with machine tools in my free time, the price would reflect the time I put into it and not just the material costs.

Should be trying some polyurethane casting today, something which has great potential and I've been wanting to try for a long time :D
