the colors of a cannon
Re. Toy..
..or a 700 fps golfball. Granted most guns around here aren't going to measure up to Pipe Dream, but still several offer substantial and dangerous power.
Re. Color.
Bright colors can look great if done well. The Trip Thunder cannons in Red and White works well for their usage. Latke's faded blue on white paint job is really nice...both color schemes do not diminish the beasts beneath them.
I think Cosmic Muffin's last green and black combustion is a great combination, Radiation's copper, black and leather look is very nice as well. Solar's all aluminum and black look on the Eclipse is classic.
However, it doesn't take much to get gaudy and ugly. I've seen some paintjobs where a lot of effort was expended but the look just didn't work. Also, an all black gun can sometimes hide cool and technically pleasing features that would otherwise make a gun stand out. For instance, many times brass/copper parts, hoses and valves should be left alone to help make the gun shine.
Think about the color combination before you paint...picture it in your head. Look at colors on other things that work well....on cars for instance...the use of trim to highlight, pin stripes, etc. These are proven techniques that are known to work.

An army green with black fittings would look slick.
I think a poop brown cannon would be funny.
Cover the whole think in rhino lining.
I haven't seen too many grey cannons.
Paint it like a candycane, that is intimidating. Pepperment doom.

I love how rag leaves posts open ended, nearly all the time...Though the most obvious guess is you are talking about your sister....
Hmm why do we bother interpreting shakespear in english or kafka in german, we should just interpret your 3328(or who knows you might post more while i am typing this)posts on here!
On a more serious not, i totally agree that most guns on here and nothing we can call toys. And i find BTB's post really good; what do you wan tthis gun to say or mean, or atleast what will it be used for, that will help alot when determining the color. You can even give us several things that it should say and/or do, but like this your question is nearly as open ended as rags posts are(
). And after all this is your gun, yo choose the color in the end and it doesnt make a difference if its pink, camo or black with flowers and purple dots if you like it.
EDIT: you guys managed to post a page worth of stuff while i typed this...

Do I really do it that often? I didn't think it was that bad.john bunsenburner wrote:I love how rag leaves posts open ended, nearly all the time...
It's something of a habit of mine from reality, leaving it a bit open ended to allow other people to decide if they want to follow up on a point, because at times I feel like I'm almost taking over the conversation and potentially boring people. (Whether I am, I never know)
However, on an internet forum, I suppose I'm not making it impossible to get a word in edgeways by being over my often over wordy self.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Well after our discussion on the chat and after seeign the gun we did agree on soemthing did we not? I will recap for the others:
His gun has a big chanber and will be shooting heavy so that alot of recoil will be made. This in turn could shred his cannon due to the way it is build. So some suggested on a recoild absorber of soem kind and we thought of making this look like one of thos old fasion cannons that roll back when shot. If this is done C then painting takes care of its self as you would make the bottom part(the part with the rollers) together with the obviously nessasary barrel support a woaden color or leave it the way it is if you are using woad and then coloring the bbarrel black or grey like a real cannon. it could also be a tank if you want it to be...
@rag: dont worry, we have accepted that that is your style of writing and that is the way it has always been. Oh and isn't ragnarok spelt ragnarök? I am a hypocrit correcting your spelling but oh well

Technically it is, but I can't be arsed to have to enter alt-codes to get the ö letter everytime I want to log in somewhere. (It doesn't occur on my keyboard.)john bunsenburner wrote:Oh and isn't ragnarok spelt ragnarök?
And also, not everywhere will accept non-basic characters within a log-in name.
Suffice to say, easier to use the Anglicisation of the name.

Really, I have ruined a few paint jobs doing this. I still havent learned.should lok great mate, make sure your not too impatient and leave it to cure

When you've got your keyboard settings right ö can be typed by pressing " and then o.Ragnarok wrote:Technically it is, but I can't be arsed to have to enter alt-codes to get the ö letter everytime I want to log in somewhere. I'll call you Ragnarök in the future.
" + o = ö
" or ' or ` + space = " or ' or `
" or ' or ` + a = ä or á or à
" or ' or ` + e = ë or é or è
~ + o = õ
And many more options like that. No alt codes needed.
