well this plug should hold such a spike as good as your next one they don't just put those barbs on there for good looks you know they give the glue more surface area to stick to, therefore since it will be completely incased in pipe a smooth one would most likely go before before this one does

900 psi with PVC? I don't suggest that. Especially if you're running co2 which could be possible given the 900 psi. If it's a hybrid, I'd definitely consider metal fittings.

uhh penetration contest specifically says only pvc. 4x mixes can produce 900psi and 4x has been used in sch 80 many times as long as its constructed right he should be fine.

This would fit inside the 1.5" pipe right? then i could put a .5" pipe in the other side with an end cap? what does fipt stand for?

So it slides into the pipe and not into a coupling right?

You would have to use a coupling to be able to attach this to your pipe. Also you would have to use a 1/2" Fpt Plug to seal the hole. Fipt stands for female iron pipe threads which is commonly substituted for Fpt, female pipe threads. I suggest simply using a SCH 80 Slip end cap, but you cannot reveal any details so I would not know your specific needs.

I thought a socket weld uses a coupling and a spigot fits in the pipe.

There is no pressure rated fitting to my knowledge that is meant to fit inside pipe. Socket fittings are meant to slip over pipe and welded to the outside of the pipe. Spigot fittings are the same OD as their according pipe size OD. Therefore they are compatible with socket fittings.
