Ok, I have worked some more on my Hammer design, so here are some pics:
First, the Whole Hammer Mech:

Then the hammer cocked:

Anyway, should be self explanatory, sorry, I forgot to use the macro setting on my camera
It works every time, the oly problem is that it is not strong enough to actuate the valve, so I'll have to work on that. Anyway, there you have it!

:-O very very nice.

I reccomend increasing the mass of your hammer. Its the only thing stopping the hammer from having enough power. Its the momentum of the hammer, not the force of the hammer, that opens the valve.

I like the idea of pulling the hammer instead of pushing it. Extension springs are 500X less fussy.

Oh, thanks, I just sent you a pm about this, I didn't realize you had seen this already! Yeah, The extension spring is MUCH nicer. Yeah, I have to make it more massive. By the way, If you are planning on making something like this, you may want to invest in a handheld, metal cutoff wheel. I used it to make the hammer, trigger, sides, and cutting the bolts.

Nice going there.

Add some lead to the tip of the hammer for more mass. You could also look into extending the hammer for even more momentum.

I am intrested to try this... It is alot cheaper and easier than buying cap guns...

While we are at it, is there a way to have a self cocking mech without making life very difficult?

Good job on this, and i ditto about extension springs.

btw, you say metal cut of wheel? is that a dremel or what?

Oh yeah, the machine is called an angle grinder, the cut-off wheeel is the wheel that is attached.

If you can attach a metal cut-off wheel to it. The steel would take FOREVER to grind on just a grinding wheel.

You mean the wheels of the machine? For the cutting, the metal cut-off wheel is the thing to use. Plus, the angle grinder is mobile, and would be much easier to use, but I guess if you really wanted to and if you found the right-sized wheel for the gringing wheel it would work.

Well yeah, But Unlike you I don't try to post at least 25 posts every day. ( I once posted 61 posts on one day, that was on a different forum)

It's not like I try to post so much, spudding (and uncropped photos) happens to be something I have a lot to say about :)
