It really should be legal, but you should call the airport just in case. No aersols/flammable gases are permitted on any flight in the U.S., but as far as the actual cannons go, as long as they're not too large, you're basically transporting plumbing pipe, which is perfectly legal. The only thing I would worry about are size and weight restrictions. Oh, and if you have a stun gun as an ignition system, don't try to take it with you. If you don't wanna buy another stun gun, just ship it to your destination.

Hmm.

If the cannon looked like mine I'd probably not want to go through the hassle of trying to transport it because the guy on the scanner would blatantly think it was some kind of freaky gun.

If the cannon in question could be broken down into parts which wouldn't look threatening by themselves e.g. barrel, grip, chamber then I'd feel ok about taking that through an airport.

hmm. honestly, id ship it. dont mess with airport security. its a big NONO. i got an eyeglass screwdriver confiscated in my pocket because it could be a weapon, but for some reason they let me carry on the pocketknife in my carryon. honestly, i think the whole security thing is kinda at a loss of values. but, what i say, is if its a small cannon, pack it away inside clothing and stuff, and remove all metal parts and carry them on. becuase like everyones saying, its just plumbing parts........... but then err on the safe side.

FINAL VERDICT: Fed-Ex it to where you are going. isnt it funny how they dont stricly check whats on Industrial flights? odd.......

PVC is no problem,I brought a bunch of PVC with me on a trip Kenya. The stuff I brought was specialty parts and pipe for Agriculture purposes(basically the same stuff for a spud gun).So as long as you disassemble the gun you should be fine.I had to go through Heathrow and they didn't even give me an issue.Although they did open the bag, everything was still there.
And VH_man,security in the US is bogus.Go through Heathrow and you can't even bring a drink you got on the flight.

Yeah, i know.... they even take it away if you drink it b4 you go through wile theyre watching. now what terrorist would go ahead and drink liquid explosive from a paper cup........ the only liquid explosive i know of is nitroglycerin. and the shotck from sipping that would detonate it in seconds..... security laws.... as bogus as our current president.....

i think te best idea is just call the airport and describe the cannon in great description and it's purposes. i think if it was dissasmebled that would help even more and if it was a penu then put the prink valve (if uhave one) in it's original box if u still have it.

I know in order to ship a paint ball tank the valve must be off, and the inspector must be able to look inside.

Whoever suggested having a friend call or using a payphone needs to think this through - there's NOTHING illegal about calling and asking a question.

Frank, good idea. Call the airport, also email the BATF and FAA and ask them about putting an "unloaded, disassembled, air-powered t-shirt launcher" in checked luggage. Write down the names of the people that told you yes, and print out copies of the emails, so that if anyone questions you at the airport, you can show them the emails or tell them "Joe at 555-555-5555 said it's OK, call him."

I think it should be allright. Do everything you can to make it NOT look like a pipe bomb.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

And this is one reason I dont like american security workers. They may be doing their jobs but theyre job sucks for other people in general. Just phone them man, they cant take things off you for asking a simple question.

Most people think spudguns are pretty cool, ive found. you just have to ask if its OK to have it. i think its the surprise that "that kid built a gun outta plumbing parts!" that scares people, not the fact that it actually exists. so just call, then they will be expecting it, and theyll be OK.

It was horrible. 31 students were shot and killed, and 28 others were injured. After shooting the students, the gunman turned the gun on himself. It all happened at VA Tech.

Yea I saw that on the news. Some person (that really has no brain) said that the colleges and highschools should have security like airports do.

Also just disassemble it and put it in your luggage bags unless you want mister whatever his name is with the uzi to beat you to the ground and pin you there with by putting his foot on your head and sticking his uzi to your temple threating to shoot you because you have something that could double as a fire arm. Or worse yet you get locked up or you get shot because you are mistaken for a terroist.

REALLY do us all a favor and put it in your luggage(your big bags that they put in the hull)!
