Haha, I do like shovel AKs.
Cast lowers at the price I can churn them out, will be good enough. Let's face it, would you rather have one in ten people being able to afford an AR, or one in three? Since I'll be machining them anyway I can do billet ARs anyway, but cast will prove cheap. And I think a populace with ARs is more comforting than a populace with SKSs with shitty AK mag conversions, and worse yet, Mosin Nagants or the like. /politics

SKS is a fun little rifle. Light recoil and "cheap like borscht" to shoot...pop pop pop =

Go for the best of both worlds ... build an AR and chamber for the 7.62x39.
Armalite sells them and the parts ... just saying

Nothing wrong with SKSs at all, I quite like them, but let's face it, can you convert an AK from .223 to 9mm, .22 and .357 maximum is an hour? AKs are quite simple to build, besides 922r (I think) parts, bolts and gas blocks, any competent machinist can make one quite easily. ARs however aren't that simple, machining a billet from scratch isn't a piece of cake.
Also isn't 7.62x39 a bit hard to find these days in the US? I've heard 5.45 is far more common these days, $200 odd for 1080 was a figure I saw.

This move and careerswitch makes you spudfiles-king!
You already were postcount-wise and for all the contributions you've made..
You're now in a position every member can only envy..

I suggest you contact Joerg to see if he can hook you up with Discovery, once you get to doing one-off builds..
It would be one hell of a show!!!

No... OH man...Brian the brain wrote:"Picked up the truck last night...eh..man."
This has over three times the horsepower of my previous ride, I'm barely touching the gas pedal...
And the luxury... I was fumbling below the seat looking for the lever to move it back... no lever... but a switch on the side activating the motorized forward-back and up-down seat control!
*gasp*
I know these might be things you take forgranted on this side of the Atlantic, but its a whole new experience for me 0_o

I believe my exact words to LeMaudit between ear-to-ear grins, bouts of maniacal laughter and distant stares of disbelief were "I wasn't this happy the first time I fuçked a girl!!!"
