speaking of bad press, this is definitely poor taste even if the bird was already dead.

LOL omg. That is sick, wrong and damn hilarious! He should have had a better potato gun for it. I'd like to have seen some better distance on that thing.

this is what happens when you mess around with weapons you don't have the knowledge to operate. I'm sorry for him but explosives are the worlds most dangerous and most of the time unstable propellants you can use.

its a pity to see spudguns go hand in hand with pyrotechnic.

If you fill a cannon with flash powder and ignite it, generally, something bad will happen. Doesn't matter if it's steel or plastic.

It's a shame his wife had to pay for his ignorance.

Doesn't sound like a spud gun though. Shrapnel went through the house to kill the GF? Certainly not PVC...

A man was injured and his wife killed when a cannon was fired into a mobile home in San Diego's East County.
That sounds like it was aimed at the trailer.
Fox and another man had been working on the cannon outside the home in the Twin Lakes Resort mobile home park when it fired, sending a projectile into the home officials said.
As usual the evil machine has a mind of its own...
Shrapnel from the explosion went into the side of the trailer, killing Fox's girlfriend according to deputies.
Again this could be a projectile, not because the cannon blew up. The projectile which Henry Shrapnel lent his name to was intended to be fired out of a cannon anyway.

Excuse for a fun animation:
