i know ur supposed to use the wires out of a tv, but what if u dont have access to one? what other wires could you use? thanx

i had this problem to. i went to lowes or something and got some of their highest rated wire and used that it's around 5k volts i think. but it still works and i've never seen a spark jump the wires.

I didn't use wires at all , I just hooked the stun gun direct to the electrodes and coated the connection with hot glue. I put electrical connections at the end of the studs that allow the stun gun to just plug in. and it c an easily be removed. It works great and required no mods on the stun gun.

I use speaker wire, even though they are connected in the middle the spark never jumps across the middle and I never have been shocked by them. i got the clear kind for like a dollar a roll at harbor freit.

one th ing I must add though about installing the stun gun as I did. The studs are drilled and set to match the width of the stun and the angles must be near perfect or you will not have the correct gap at the firing end.. Fortunately mine c ame out just like I wanted ,but even if it was off a little the electrodes could be bent after all the hardware is in place.

Sometimes I cant belive the stuff people rig up and never get injured. A hot glue joint is pretty weak against a explosion. Anyways back to the wire discusion I was talking to BLB about the wire you can use for stunguns and he said that you should be able to use any wire as long as it isnt to small. But make sure it is insulated good with something so you dont shock yourself.

thanx. that helps out alot! so would it be a good idea to wrap the wire real good w/electrical tape just to be safe?

Here, from the dephts of my chat logs is my statement:

Go to radioshack, and look for the lowest guage wire. I do believe that lower gage means higher voltage rating. Correct me if i'm wrong.

I'm pretty sure the thicker the wire, the more wattage it can handle. The amount of insulation helps higher voltages, but thats just what I remember being told.

The hot glue is only used to coat the part of the electrode that sticks out above the chamber to match the height of the stun. the electrodes are threaded through the chamber and then nuts ar e put on above and below as well as one to hold the connection that plugs into the stun gun. It's airtight and works like a charm and doesn't need any wire. It's not the usual way so I would expect some feedback. It's also partly held by velcro.

Go to your nearest Radio Shack and ask for a small roll of "probe wire"
278-563 is red
278-564 is black
It's very flexible and good for 1000V. And it only coast a few bucks for a roll.
