is it possible to use a spark plug as an ignitor and if so how do you do it?

its possible, you would need to open the gap up alot on the spaek plug to get a nice fat spark. you would also need an ignition coil. use 3 or 4 9 volt batteries and put them thru the coil to crank up enough sparking power.

Yes it is possible and it has been used before, alot. Below there is a picture of a spark plug you need to hook one wire to the "connector" and the other to the body of it (Not the ceramic part).

Next couple of sentaces are in responce to LS's posts. You can leave the spark plug gap the same, you dont need to expand it. There is other things that you can hook up to a spark plug all it needs to be is some electric ignition source such as BBQ sparker, Ignition Coil, Stun Gun, Etc.

Personaly, I think that spark plugs are a bit bulky.
What I did, is I ground a groove in the side of a bolt, put a wire in it, and filled the groove to the outer diameter of the threads. This was then threaded with a die... result: a bolt, which when 2 leads are connected to the head and the wire, can cause a spark in the chamber.
It's pretty slick, and is going to end up in the combustion I'll eventualy make.
