co2 guessing

hi what EXACTLY does a co2 regulator do does it fill the chamber to a certain pressure then stop, or does build pressure slowly, an why cant someone slap on a pressure guage and fil to the pressure needed

Although they do sell flow regulators for inert gasses, the CO<sub>2</sub> regulators are "pressure regulators" - they fill the chamber to a certain pressure.

As to using a pessure gauge and manualy controling the filling, people have done that (I think). It's sometimes discorouged, though - the chance of the chamber being over pressurized is considered too large enough.
This possibility can be minimalized by putting a saftey pop-off valve (doesn't acctualy eject part of the valve, incidentaly) on your chamber, and having the CO<sub>2</sub> rig as a non-permenatly-attached part.
