A contest would be very interesting, and would likely cause some of the members who have access to better tools or have better design skills to bring some really ingenious design principals to the table, and further advance spudgun tech just a little further. Remember, necessity is the father of invention. And when an invention is the necessity, we may end up with a new type of spudgun on our hands. But, We should probably also cut each division into different 'classes', ala IDPA. If we just threw all the entries into a pot and saw what comes out on top chances are, some of the more advanced spudfiles members might take their respective division by storm. But, unfortunately, that would also require that the prize money be divided up. However, the only place that really poses a problem is in pneumatics, with the wide variety of types available. Also, Hybrids might have to be split in to 'Machined' and 'Non-Machined' so folks that aren't Larda have a shot at winning.

I just got a positive PM response from PCGUY regarding the contest. He indicated something would be in the works shortly.

Thats great. My dad just got home (meaning I can use my drill press and other tools again), and I found a Fastenal store right near me. I should be able to crank out much more sophisticated cannons now. (In addition to no longer having to risk using DWV Bell reducers!!)

I don't seem to have any drive for building at the moment.

I have an almost finished design on my books but I'm missing a reason for spending several hundred hours and thrice that in cash realising it.

What kind of aims are worth making an expensive cannon for...

I'm all for the competition, but make sure that there is no entry fee.

I have the time, money, and plans to build my paintball semi, but I still don't have permission. My new job gives me access to lathes, drill presses, Everything! Perhaps a covert gun is possible.

Well then there are no prizes to be won. If your entry is really that good, you'll win back your entry fee and more.

You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.
