Here are my plans for a homemade .50 cal semi auto paintball gun. It will be powered by a large air compressor (100+ psi) or a large air tank. (like 6" PVC with caps, made to hold pressure etc).
Will probably be piloted using a hi-flow, modified blow gun.

- Silencer with baffles. May just skip this part.

- Just a simple magazine, might add a springfeed.

- The valve. Air pressure enters through the back, and pushes down the piston. This exposes the holes, the air then travels into the 3/4" chamber, and into the 1/2" barrel.

looks like a pretty good design.
but will this system be powerful enough to launch a paintball at an effective velocity?

I'd avoid the suppressor. Legal deathtrap. No matter WHAT you have heard, you HAVE to have it registered or you will be in deep honkey.

I know suppressors/silencers are grey zones as far as everything goes, but they aren't very effective anyway. As I don't want to get a CO2 setup it'll be limited by what air source I'm using, so the silencer probably won't be very effective.SEAKING9006 wrote:I'd avoid the suppressor. Legal deathtrap. Thanks for the input guys
EDIT: progress pics.

Valve casing and piston.

Valve closed.

Valve opened.

Inside, valve open.
EDIT #2: Looks like progress is halted for today. We have a friendly family of european wasps moving in to make a home in the shed. And they're agro..

Err, I'm not quite sure how it works...
But I didn't really want to devote the mental effort after midterms...

Try Using either a bug bomb as a grenade, or Putting on every coat you have and wrap your head in mosquito netting and use some raid.
Of course, I've also heard a combination of flying gasoline plus an open flame to be an effective insecticide....
