New design feedback wanted

Well, I didn't want to post until it was done, but I can't resist. I aimed high for a 6 shot rotary hybrid where you load and fuel once and shoot 6 times. It was impractical to achieve and have it acceptable as far as weight, size and cost goes. The result is a breech loading, triple chamber hybrid where you fuel all chambers and place burst discs and then get to shoot 3 times.
You still have to load each time, but it will be really easy with a quick action lever type thing that I haven't figured out yet. Its far enough along to know that its going to work. All aluminum construction and 100% STANDARD PARTS. The only thing that needs a little time put in are the discs. They are made from plate and can be made in one's garage with a drill press and hole saws. A band saw or even hack saw can be used to hack the corners of the square plate off, then grind it round and sand it smooth.
I have a great method to use 1 stun gun to ignite only the chamber thats rotated into firing position. The other chambers will have no contact with the stun gun. There will also be a simple method of discharging any remaining voltage from the stun gun between shots, preventing accidental misfirings.
The all standard part construction should really keep the price low. 1 1/2" SCH10 barrel is perfect for golf balls. Chambers are 2" X 12" SCH40. This cannon will operate at 3X.

Again its not finished of course, but I wanted any feedback you guys may have as I progress. This cannon will seriously improve burst disc hybrid cycle times.

What do you consider to mount the barrel to the chamber?

Is your ignition method something with a sliding contact?

Yeah the ignition will have sliding contact clips with a discharge clip on either side. So as a chamber is rotated into place, the clips will slide over each other and the stun gun will now be in contact with that one chamber only. The chambers will snap in place by using plungers or another simple way.
The barrel support will likely be clamped to the main axis of the cannon. And then the barrel will slide back and forth on UHMW bushings. The barrel will lock firmly in place against the combustion disc by using a clamp or another simple mechanism. Trigger going on top handle, laser pad on lower handle. Will probably cover all the naked piping with vinyl padding to make it look sexy.

Given that you're going BIG, have you considered hybrid cartridges? I always thought they'd be far too fiddly for BB calibre but for golfball size they should work. At they're simplest you could just slide them into your "chambers" of your existing design, but maybe just maybe you could go the whole hog and have a belt?

I'm glad you mentioned cartridges. That has me thinking about more possibilities now. Thanks! The whole idea is to dramatically increase time spent shooting and to get rid of lots of loading/fueling time. Hybrids, of course, take a little more prepping than a normal combustion.
That would be cool to have like 12 cartridges all loaded up and to have the gun hold 3 at a time, sort of like you hinted at. Then when your use them, just replace them with fresh ones.
I can still fuel all the cartridges at once through a hose manifold, so this could be super great. If I have 6 cartridges that gives me really about 6X as much shooting time

I also thought about having 3 barrels as well and having 4 triggers...1 for each barrel, and then 1 that shoots ALL barrels at once

Thanks for the link, thats awesome to look at. A premixed storage tank crossed my mind, but it was just a thought as I don't know how safe it would be. This cannon will be fueled by using a manifold that has inlets for both propane and an air pump, but just one plug goes into the cannon to make it simple to connect and fill all tanks at once.

The concept looks good, I think getting it done in reality will be a lot of work...I'm sure you are up to the task though. Are you sure you want to be giving away these ideas with competition coming up???...

Getting it done WILL take a bit of fiddling around and work for sure. I'd like to make it simpler and easier. My goal would be to have people like it enough to go make one themselves. I want to give something, if not great at least cool, to the spud gunning community.
Oh, and the contest...yeah I thought about that to. I don't know if I will make this by that time or not. If I find the money I might, but I had another idea for the contest up my sleeve. Really simple and just kind of fun really. But it should pack a nice little PUNCH.

Thanks! Yeah, triple chamber hybrid. It will actually probably use a hybrid cartridge system so you can load and then just shoot, replace chambers, shoot again etc.

Meet the "Cobra Striker"

I was wondering if you'd be willing to give some input and feedback with this new design. I want to make it as affordable and attractive as possible. OK, the design is almost complete mechanically. It has evolved into a very powerful, yet super compact rotary hybrid cartridge cannon. As many cartridges can be pre loaded as desired, then loaded onto the cannon after using the existing 3. Everything is using standard, readily available parts which will yield a very reasonable cost for a cannon of this type. I have yet to design the electrical setup, but I already know what i'm going to do. The weight will total around 18.5lbs.
100% 6061-T6 design totally machining free. Some holes need to be drilled, but thats all.
The design features a break barrel functionality that engages by turning a simple handle. This makes transport and storage incredibly convenient. Also, it will be sling supported and is engineered to hang around the neck right about the center of gravity of the design. The center of gravity is located between the two handles so holding it is comfortable.
The design is left hand-right hand compatible. Swing the handle to the other side and done. The bolt rotates to any position desired. The breech locks in place by giving the bolt knob a little twist and it can be locked in any rotational position desired.
Overall length: 58".
This design is modular. The same frame will be used for an even less expensive, single chamber cannon design. The cannon can be upgraded at a later time by purchasing the rotary unit and 2 chambers.
The chambers will be held down by what will likely be a very powerful hook and loop belt system. Just remove the belt and replace it with another belt loaded with 3 more chambers.
The cannon operates at 4X (maybe more) depending on burst disc practicality.
All chambers can be fueled at one time with a quick disconnect manifold with connections for both schrader and propane, dramatically reducing cycle time even further.
Again, the barrel fits golf balls perfectly. Let me know your ideas. I am looking for any way to make the cannon better.

Your cad's are very good.

Personally I believe that fueling the thing will be the most difficult part, but design I reckon you're capable of.

What bore and chamber size are you planning to use? Burst disk pressures?

For refueling of the cartridges, you could have a larger storage tank to pressurize the air fuel mixture in. It would be at a higher pressure than you intend to run the cartridges at, and be used as a filling station. A lot easier to get the mixture correct on the larger scale then trying to get it correct on every cartridge.

Conceptually that design looks fantastic!

I am sure you will run in to some physical technological challenges but nothing that you won't be able to overcome.
