i have an idea to make a very high power squirt gun. I'm thinking of just having a tank hook it to a ball valve on one side(trigger) than on the other side a ball valve and a hose connector(charger). put hose on connector open valve let fill till water builds up pressured. then let ball valve close, open trigger water flys. not a very cool design.
any ideas?

Here you go...

I got the picture of the foot out of the way first.

Where you attach an air cylinder.

A nice handle.

If it was filled with ...IDK...sulfuric acid, it would be twice as nasty, not gas and not flammable, fully auto and silent ...'nuff said.

Yeah, you could get a 6" brass nipple pipe and coupling and plug or reducer bushing (to mount the shrader),
Then make a piston (w/o-rings(?)) to fit inside, add a nozzle, and plug it in to a bike tyre filler.
Fill it with water/liquid, and when you press the bike tire filler, it will shoot with 800+++ psi.
Be careful, if the nipple breaks when you're shooting someone (edit:with water), it would be dangerous.
And if you shoot skin at close range, it could cut right through.
BTW, I Can't remember where that squirt gun forum (from last year) was now.

I found the above fire extinguisher in a tool box that goes into the bed of a truck. My dad bought it at a yard sale for five dollars (the tool box, not the fire extinguisher... it was free).

You just unscrew the top, fill with water, screw on an air cylinder, let it pressurize the tank, and use the nozzle to squirt people! It's simple and fun!

i made a squirt gun similar to what you described and i was disappointed in the performance it only shot a little over 35ft i revamped it and put a piston between the air and water and got nearly 80ft so if your going to make one have a piston between the air and water p.s. if you use just air without a piston it starts shooting mist at the end if you use a piston it shoots out till the last drop also i used one of these for the nozzle http://www.mcmaster.com/#fire-hose-nozzles/=2g6sx2

The nozzle on the tank I have will shoot a steady stream for between 30-90 seconds, depending on how much water you fill it with. But in a water fight that will give you over a hundred shots (+/- 99 shots). And it has great distance, no actual measurements, but my guess would be 150 feet...

Yeah, Nice looking nozzles, they have an old fashioned one similar in my local garden store.
That SF's member, (forgot name) with the cool painted cannons and a navy submariner who liked the raggae crap...
Mentioned a nozzle that was several short sections of smaller tubes, grouped together at the muzzle.
He stated that's what Disney used for the launching water fountain.
(Where the water stays solid mass as it launches to other side, creating a cool illusion).
I unfortunately haven't tested it yet. Seems practical.

The larger your piston the more performance you will get at a given pressure. this is because of surface area. I always thought it would be cool to make a gun with bearly any water, 200psi and a 9 in. piston with a 7 in. piston valve.
