hi i would like to build a cannon to shoot Nerf rockets but don't know were to start. can anyone help me?

You're going to need to be a bit more specific if you want useful advice.
Are you looking for single shot or multi shot?
What sort of velocity are you after?
What size is acceptable?
What's your budget?
Do you want to power it with a fuel/air mixture (combustion) or compressed gas (pneumatic)?
Do you need it to be quiet?
Come up with a detailed specification and you'll find a lot of help. In the meantime, read though the

alright more detailed
im lloking for a single shot
not shure of the velocity but has to shoot 100+ feet
no longer than 4 feet long
i want it to be powered by compressed air
does not need to be quit

A
sprinkler valve pneumatic then, it will give you the performance you want at 100 psi, not the most basic of designs but complex enough to give you a challenge with a reasonable chance of success, especially if its your first build. Also the parts you need are relatively cheap and readily available.
