testing pvc cement in the name of science

i recently found some pvc in my shed and decided to build a cannon, i also found a old container of pvc cement/glue that had passed it use by date by quite some time. it has some what gotten much thicker some where between honey and jelly and also smells a lot worse.
so over the past couple of days iv been using it to build a cannon and it has given some rather odd results.
it not only is harder to use (got sick trying to use a brush so im using a butter knife to smear it on) it also takes much longer to dry but it does have it's pros it seems to be far superior strength wise then a new bottle.
this is just my 2cents clearly the results will vary from band's and for the love of god dont depend on my results when building your own cannon

I would not trust the glue. I hope you are not building anything more powerful than a spray and pray. The gun will not likely hold together.

You found something that the manufacturer and their team of engineers determined is "past its prime", decided to use it anyway, and then you've somehow determined that it has "superior strength"?
I would very much like more details of your experimentation procedure which lead you to this remarkable conclusion.

I used that once and could never get a seal, not sure if it was the pvc glue or the soda bottle, a can of glue costs under 2 bucks, do yourself a favor and get a new bottle

Guys he said it was a test
But I agree with them... you probably shouldn't trust it for anything more than a spray and pray. We don't need another
accident.

Yeah, I guess but there has to be a better way to test it than using it to build a gun. By the way that accident didnt occur from a failed joint, he accidently got shot in the eye

I know, but it can result in the same thing.

Yeah your right about that, you really shouldnt use questionable parts on spud guns though

Questionable parts are my bread and butter, hence the disproportionate amount of fail. Win is not made of epoxy
As to the fact that I seem to be featured in Gun Freak's sig, well
you would have creamed your pants too

well pritty much i just got some 1m long pipe use the off glue to attach a end cap then made a duplicate only using a new batch of glue then i tested how much weight they could take b4 the end cap fell off.
i put heavy mettle bars in the pipe sitting on the end cap and kept putting more in till it slipped/fell off
if u guys like il get a video of the crappy cannon i built with it its currently drying i cant wait to test it xD

Well depends how you define questionable, in your case the manufacturer specifically said not to use it, but then again they also specifically said PVC pipe was not for compressed air but in my opinion it's a bad idea and shouldn't be used
