Hybrid mounted inside.

Hey, I have been wondering how to make my hybrid easier to operate and I finally realized that the answer was on the second floor of my workshop.

I have cleaned it out (reasonably) well and now the hybrid is screwed to the floor. The barrel is resting on four wood blocks and is fastened with perforated steel band to the floor. The total number of screws that is in the floor to hold it is 16 and they are screwed into an inch thick chipboard.

What concerns me is the recoil it produces and the fact that it is fixated to the floor. I could see roof plates falling off the roof below or the cannon simply tearing itself loose and impacting the wall behind (witch is on second floor, above concrete and it is only 1/2" thick)

I need to sort out if it is okay until tomorrow since I have everything I need to fire it now.

Here is some pictures that is pretty blurry due to the light conditions but you should understand whats up.

Chamber is loose so I can move it to insert ammo and burst disks.

Look at my thread for some ideas - I'm going through a complete renovation of that stand however... but if you wanna get some ideas its there. I'll give you the CAD files if you need dimensions.

Just saying because you have a very nicely fabricated gun, but the mounting system looks like a completely different person made it!

Also is your barrel merely tacked to the threaded insert for the union?

remember... triple ear protection...

You might want to let it recoil a little. You could pull a larda and hook up some air springs, or make some yourself. Shocks off a car could also work.

If you want to be cheap and ghetto, you could just make a pile of sandbags behind it.

The reason it is mounted like this is because it can remain assembled and ready to fire at all times. I simply got to tired of assembling it every time I wanted to shoot it.
Making a stand for a 7m (21feet approx) long all steel cannon is hard enough outside but building one inside a small cave?

The plan I have for the summer is to have it elevated up from the floor on a stand like structure. It's just hard to do with the recoil forces involved.

Edit: Ramses, I don't think you guys realize what a task it is to build a recoil absorbing stand for this.
I will make it prettier and better when I know it's safe. The car shocks sounds genious though. That will be done on the next version.

Talk to the guys at Ultron about their 155mm CLGG cannon lol...

Yea it would be tough - I didn't realize it was a full 21ft long. My 10 gallon at 15' is tough enough, but with the energy this thing will generate you will want a little better stand for sure.

I am planning on simply having it in a half tube, loosely fixed and with two shocks at the back (thanks)
Will still be a fixed stand though.

Edit: It works beutifully. I fired six shots today with just about no effort. Nothing impressive about the video though. I fired it mostly because I wanted to test it. Doesn't move an inch.
