My real concern was whether or not this lawn genie brand has guide rods in them.

Ya, I believe all brands other than Rain Bird and Orbit Watermasters have guide rods....

Some Rain Birds and Watersmasters have guid rods also...

You can mod any sprinkler valve that doesn't have a flow control... Sprinkler Valves with guide rods are just not as east because you have to drill to the side of the guide rod, but while still not interfering with the spring.

yeah, i saw on spudtech that they have guide rods.

should i use the external bleed feature on a rainbird cp-100 as a pilot hole for modifying? (i think a forum member called drac did that with his pnuematic)

or is it possible to remove or grind away part of the guide rod so i can center the pilot valve?

open the valve, pill out the guide rod with pliers, insert into diaphram hole, bend ends into L shapes, modify the valve as normal.

A diaphragm glued in? What brand and model is it? It doesn't seem right because they make them so you can easily replace ripped diaphragms.

It was just pressed in, no glue.
