PB mortar quesiton

i was thinking about airsoft and pb mortars the other day and how you could use a combustion for it. My problem for a combustion mortar would be that I use anti static spray for the fuel and if you spray it in the chamber and wait over like a minute or so it wont ignite.
The question is would it work if you just put a ball valve before the barrel and right after you spray the fuel in screw the end cap on, and ignite with the ball valve closed? this way you could ignite it before hand and release the pressure whenever you want. logically it should store about 50 psi ( or whatever pressure a combustion makes ) and could be used like a portable pneumatic but it just never seems like a good idea creating a small explosion in a small enclosed space. any thoughts/comments/suggestions?
