this is the valve im about to go purchase from Lowes for my cannon. it has a little black thing in the top where the hole should be drilled. should i unscrew it (i think it screws in...) and tap the hole for the blowgun there or drill another hole somewhere else? i wanna make sure i do it right and dont waste 18 bucks.

That's a RainBird, I wouldn't buy that if I was you, and that's the bleed hole I think, but it could possible that it's a guide rod which would ruin the sprinkler valve if you drilled it out...

I would say order a 1" Watermaster from Joel, but he left for vacation on 6-17-2006 so it would take forever to ship.... I would recommend buying a Pre-Modded 1" Watermaster from BCPneumatics.com... It's $27 shipped without a hose (blowguns directly attached to sprinker) and it's $33 shipped with a hose...

It's kind of a waste to buy a modded sprinkler valve, but you might have yo if they don't sell ones that are easy to mod\moddable at all close to you....

To get the the BCPneumatics store go to here:

If you use the solinoid, you wont have to mod it at all.

That black thing is a bleed hole that you could drill around, but you have to make sure you don't interfere with a guide rod of the spring....

And when you epoxy \ seal \ JB Weld that one you will have to seal the bleed hole also...

I just searched for 57101 on Amazon and found these, definately get these instead of the ones you looked at, these are the kind Joel sells....

Ok, so you don't need a business ID to order from them? I'll order one from their probably if so.... Most of my pneumatics for now on are going to be Piston though, if not all of the rest I make...

(haha the business i made up) and that its sending it to my house so we will see if it worked. i wouldnt suggest ordering it until i find out if it for sure worked cause im not completely sure yet.

I've modded sprinkler valves with both bleed holes and guide rods. The valve on my "offset over and under" had a guide rod, and the valve for my next cannon had both. I don’t really see any problem with modding that valve. In fact on my new valve I just removed the guide rod and screwed the fitting right in where it used to be, no drilling at ALL.

This is the valve that I modded with bleed hole and guide rod.
