Is it dangerous if i put 5 minute epoxy in the 2 holes i have where my electrodes were. Like will they shoot out randomly when the thing fires. Because i decided im going to get a lantern sparker, and i want to plug the holes... but safely...

i would cut a little pice of pvc (cut it from the same diameter pipe the chamber is so it has the same curve to it) and pvc glue it over the hole.

I think it depends on the size of the hole.

On a small hole, there’s not so much surface area for the pressure to act upon, so I don't think it'd be a problem for a hole smaller than say a dime. Much bigger than that and it could become an issue.

I could be ass-backwards wrong, this is just my guess. I have two nail-size holes on my chamber I filled with superglue, and 100+ shots later they're fine.

Get glue on both the inside and the outside of the pipe, to give the epoxy "plug" something to anchor to.

Peace,
Pete Zaria.

I'm pretty sure epoxy would be just fine, but if you worried you could use JB weld it's much stronger.

Just take areally short bolt and put that in the hole, then put a nut on it, you could saw a bolt to make it shorter. I epxied the holes in mine and it was fine. I used simple hairspray though.

my friend epoxed the old electrode holes shut and they eventually shot out and hit him in the stomach and he said it hurt like getting shot by a pellet gun

Tap a NPT plug into the old hole. It might require that you drill it out slightly larger.

Well he was telling you BS, it might sting a little, but you're friends a wimp if he thinks it felt like a pellet gun :D

Do what Pimpman said and tap a hole in, or if you can't do that for certain reasons (for most, being stupid) you can get a file and roughen (sp?) the area up and JB Weld it, if you get a small mound of JB weld on the inside and outside of the cannon, it's on their for good because once JB Weld is dry it's just like steel (it's made of liquid steel and hardener).

If it still has threads in it, the epoxy will adhere to the threads and the risk of blowing out is slim.

But I would still replace it with a bolt or something.

frogy- he aint really a wimp, the holes were actually rather large and i was there when it happened and there were 2 holes in his shirt and he was slightly bleeding, then later that week his cannon exploded, i was kinda funny when it exploded a huge chunck of pvc hit his ancle and it swol up 2 the normal size, i think as long as there not too big youll be fine

Well tell me that before I talk out my ass

Of course the bigger the hole the worse it'd hurt, but it's just a flesh wound :D

I got my arm almost severed in a skateboarding accident (and I don't skateboard :o )

jeeze that doesnt sound good. how do you get your arm almost severed in a skateboarding accident?? sounds like a story i would like to hear!

but anyways couldnt he just screw in the screws for the electrodes all the way in so there is nothing sticking out on the outside of the chamber? instead of all this tapping and glueing stuff.

I'd just epoxy the electrodes in the holes.

I think you missed the point he is NOT going to use electrodes anymore. He got a lantern sparker instead and wants to get rid of the old electrodes and the holes for them. :)

Ya I understand, I was just saying to epoxy something into the holes, rather than just filling the holes with epoxy.
