I've seen some pretty cool aluminium extrusions that I think could be easily adapted as a building material for spudguns...
I know at least one person who has used them but apart from that it seems that they aren't very popular

ok here are some examples, I esspecially like the coaxial ones
(circular patern inside a pipe shaped extrusion = instant coaxial )


this one would make an awesome readymade silencer



I am well aware that it might not be strong enough for high pressure pneumatics or high mix hybrids
(one could always use inserts made from steel)
Anyway I want to know what's you opinion on this What do you guys think?

It's a good theory.. Who knows, maybe it will work!!

That second one would be an awesome 3 barreled shotgun type of thing. Maybe the two sides could be buck shot, and the center being a solid slug. Might be fun. (I don't mean powder burning by the way...)

I think that aluminium extrusions like the one on the second pic could serve several functions at the same time:
A) chamber (large circular section in the middle... or one of the smaller ones used as a volumetric meter)
B) piston housing (the same part)
C) structural support (holding everything toghether)
D) ease of mounting stuff to it (put a screw in one of the slits and now you can attach a regulator, valve etc. on the side/bottom of the extrusion/profile)
E) place for hiding other stuff that normally requires project boxes and bunch of clamps to mount - ignitors, batteries electronics and stuff like that

well if you want bosch rexroth extrusions then yeah it is quite expensive but I find a local supplier that has reasonable prices (and sells a bunch of different diam. of aluminium tubes)
