Airguns are illegal in most of northern virginia. My advice is to find a patch of woods to shoot in and not your front yard.
Yeah, it's that important.

Sounds like you're a bit immature and your guns should be taken off you.

I am a genius.
Actually, helium is still slightly lighter since Hydrogen (H2) is diatomic. So, for a molecule of Hydrogen, you actually have two atoms, as opposed to only one for helium.

Back to the original topic, if you were not in violation of the law (except disturbing the peace), there may be some local law against your neighbor's photo taking. Although it may be unenforced since you are the male and she is the female.

Similar subject: I went down to my semi-secluded shooting location opposite a navy base and my friend pointed out to me a few police cars nearby. On closer inspection, there was also an Armed Offenders Squad SUV and undercover car as well. Looks like they might have been using a nearby car park and navy office building as a staging area.

The thing is, if I had gone down there just before they arrived, they would have driven within 10' of me setting up the cannon as the road to the car park is one-way. Also, if my friend had not been with me I would've not seen the police cars and would've ended up firing the cannon only 50m away from the staging area.

Might have to give that location another think even though it's the only one I got.

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that... wasn't really concentrating on scientific accuracy with that post, though ;)

Crowley: not sure how you do it, but I try to scout potential areas with google earth. If there's a mile-wide patch of trees that I can't see any buildings around, I make a note of it for anytime I'm around that area.

Not really sure how strictly the law in NZ in enforced; hopefully it isn't as bad as the United States of Paranoia.
But yeah, you're lucky. Remember your best case scenario would have been scaring the crap out of a bunch of guys with guns... Have a look around from now on and keep a second set of eyes with you. The area around a navy base should be a cautionary zone at all times.

I have a navy base not too far away with a park/large forested area across from it, but I don't like to use it for anything louder than a bow just because of its proximity.

Fnord was right, Ramses. A single atom of helium-4 is more massive than a "normal" dihydrogen molecule (two atoms of hydrogen-1).

Also, to the OP: you've got this all wrong. It sounds an awful lot like you're trying to "fight city hall" here. Tempting as it is, it tends to be an all consuming battle which only has one final outcome. The average person involved with the legal system is unlikely to be able to discern a liquid from a gas, much less helium from air.

Fnord was right, Ramses
But overlooking the covalent bonding state/particle masses and being right by chance isn't much better than being wrong

Yes, but science was the point of my post.

Somehow, I still thought hydrogen has a lower SoS in practice. Perhaps it cools more under decompression?

They should really make hydrogen and nitrogen co2 style bulbs.
