I just assembled my first propane meter, it is missing a couple parts are the moment until i get to a plumbing supply store, home depo doesnt carry tap and die or regulators, the order of parts for the meter is

1. propane torch head not yet cut or threaded
2. 1/8 " to 1/4" female female bushing
3. 1/4 " male to 1/4" barb
4. Polyethylene tubing 3/8 outside diameter 1/4 inside. i think the box said it was rated at 200 someodd psi i hope it wasnt in the wrong box. But its pretty thick so i imagine its right.
5. 1/4" male to 1/4" barb
6. 1/4" to 1/4 " nipple
7. 1/4" to 1/4" adapter
8. Regulator not yet bought (i really hope it has a 1/4 female thread when i buy it)
9. 1/4" to 1/4" nipple
10. 1/4" to 1/2" bushing
11. 1/2" Ball valve
12. 6" L 1/2" W meter pipe/nipple
13. 1/2" Ball valve
14. 1/4" to 1/2" bushing
15. 1/4" male to 1/4" female 90 degree street elbow
16. 1/4" to 1/4" nipple
Note all fittings are teflon coated, 5 layers and tight as hell. (probably need a vise to get them apart without ripping my palms off)

I just want to make sure everything is safely put together and is correct before i start rigging it to a gun.

i wanted to make one of those portable propane meters like on advancedspuds.com but i never got to it.

i started building pnuematics
finished one yesterday in fact, launched a soda bottle over 100 yards with it. can't wait to get my hands on a digital camera and post it.

there is no gun yet lol...but since i love gorts blue flame design so much im gonna use that shape... props gort its beatiful. Im just using a lantern sparker instead of stun gun because stun guns scare me... i was hesitant to see what it felt like to shock myself with my bbq, god knows what the stun gun can do to ya. Basically, i was not planning on that thing costing me 70 dollars to make... i was thinkin ok 40 tops... and i would be pipe but my reciept was a shitload more lol. And i still need to buy a chasing die and regulator which is like 20 dollars. Joels meter pipe is definately priced correctly for his site, sadly its the only thing he sells that is not overpriced.

i think galvinized steel would have been cheaper

Nice, Polyethylene should be rated to about 300psi so your fine... Looks great...

Good thing you didn't get Vinyl tubing, that's only rated to about 55psi

You probably could have made it for cheaper, but it's a pain in the ass looking for all the parts, sorry if my directions to make it were shitty from ealier ...

Yes, regulators have 1/4" femele thread.

Well not ALL regulators have 1/4" ports, but most do. The only reason I say anything is that I would hate for you to buy one only to find out it's a 3/8" or something.

On the 90* that goes in to your chamber is that a femal elbow? If it is you need a male one. Nice work

it has a 1/4 inch to 1/4 inch nipple that goes into the female end, its a male one end female other end, with the nipple its male on both ends.

I can get parts to make one for cheaper using McMaster for the ball valves and PlumbingSupply.com for the brass fittings... Including shipping and\or taxes an adding an extra margin I could make one for:

$25.16 from PlumbingSupply.com shipped brass parts
$16 from McMaster for 2 ball valves shipped
$12.89 from Lowes for torch kit w\ tank
$14.96 for a regulator from Home-Depot

That's $70 without the Meter Pipe which is about $10

Ya, it's really not worth ordering from PlumbingSupply.com because they take like a week to ship to me because it's from California.... McMaster is only like a few miles away from my house though, so I could acually get the 2 $6 ball valves for like $13 instead of $16, but I would have to get the brass fitting from Lowes\Home-Depot....

Ahhh that hose is not pressure rated. it is for low pressure only. check the lable. get some air compressor hose. it is $10 for a 50 foot roll of the orange stuff. the hose you have will burst

... you sure? the box for it said like 255 psi...its pretty strong stuff too... its hard as hell to push over a barb... i mean it seems as strong as macroline.
