Is it possible to use a check valve to make a semi or full auto cannon? Look at the diagram and tell me what you think.

That could work! I have an ajustible check valve. I might try that.

Keep in mind that you're pushing against about 150 pounds of force for a 1" valve at 100psi to open that check valve...

So use like springs and pulleys or whatever to reduce the pressure it would take to open it. And it would only shoot BBs or something small, so you'd only need like 60 psi.

EDIT: I made an animation! (That Unfreez thing salad said was good is really easy)

Like already said, you need to push back 150 punds, that is a whole lot to do with just a few fingers.

And that's with a 1" valve at 100 psi, like I already said, isn't it? You could use springs and pulleys or whatever to reduce the amount of force needed.

I know it seams like a check valve is a viable option, but the fact of the matter is that you can't use a check valve as a main valve of a potato cannon. Trust me I've spent many hours trying to think of a way. Even at 60 psi with a 1/2" valve that's 47 pounds of force to deal with. The fact of the matter is that it's inefficient and overcomplicated.

K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid)

Doesn't mean I (or someone else) can't try it.

I'm not saying that you can't try it.

I'm just saying that it won't work very well, if at all.
