for this amount of effort you could drive to your local hardware store and dump 100 bucks on a cheap compressor, and make a full auto bbmg!

Well, I think Pyro mean that it’s not supposed to be full auto, but instead a way to shot short bursts of bbs, propelled by combustion.
You certainly would achieve a higher pressure with a hybrid rather then with a compressor... but as pyromaniac said, the gasses would escape around the bbs to fast; not creating the "flow" needed to suck them out of the barrel... at least that what I think.
Dump the vortex design and go for something more like a breech. Good thinking though!

Combustion-generated pressure is generaly considered to subside pretty quickly - within a few seconds, that is.
That's still quite a few bbs.

I meant make a 2 liter combustion chamber out of steel and run it at 8X so it hisses for 2-7 seconds

Yeah but combustion is a very short blast of air and you won't be able to use all of it if its going through a tiny tube. You need a pretty continuos air flow to get any bbs out of the barrel. I would be surprised if you got 1 out.

Yeah, put in 8 times the amount of propane... Might help a bit.

OK your going to make something way harder than just your run of the mill vortex and it will be much weaker. I belive if you are going to make one just use a design that works and will work consistantly.
