Obviously you need a strong DC source but figure somone here might have use of it.

It would make more sense to use a flyback out of a TV and a driver circuit, that would be better for ignition. You can find other circuits and most of the stuff should be fairly easy to get. Or, just order one off eBay if you can.

ever heard of a 555 timer it will work much better than your motor idea. it might cost you a bit more but it will be more reliable

can you make a taser out of 555 timer alone? i have wanted to make one with a continous spark but havent been able to. if you have some pics of one you have built that would be nice

well what he was trying to do was make a pulse, a 555 timer makes a pulse. if you take that pulse and use it to turn on and off a a transistor or scr you have a charging circuit (well of course you would need a coil and a few capcitors and resistors too). if you use that circuit to charge a high voltage low capacitance capactior you have a tazer (i think). i ve made a charging curcuit but it was only designed to be used in a coil gun so it chargered to a few 350v 1000uf capacitors in about a second. now of course this isnt as simple as i just made it your going to do a bit of math and a little rescearch but not very hard to make

Never heard of a 555 timer (I dont live in The United States Of America) I just posted this for people who can´t get stun guns and want a fast ingition source. Moderator if you could please change the title to "Alternative to Stun Gun Ignition", and thank you Singularity for not just flaming it but being constructive.

The only thing that comes close to a "continuous spark" is an ion engine's exhaust. THAT is a continuous stream of charged particles. Everything else, from stun guns to Tesla coils is just—as singularity put it—pulses. Some pulse several times per second (stun guns), some several thousand times (Tesla coils, flyback circuits), giving the impression of a continuous spark.

I was close to using something similar to what Recruit suggested , only because I wanted to use whatever I had lying around and not take a trip to Radio Shack. A flyback driver or Tesla coil or some other HV oscillator like this one is pretty easy to make. I haven't found the need to build one, since we have electric igniters for 2 USD over here.
