This is dirrectly from the rules
"Discussion of shooting anything at any person and/or animal is prohibited, and may result in a permanent banning of your account.
The exception to this rule is for proper use of legal airsoft and/or paintball markers."
Dude dont talk about making a pb gun and going paint balling with it.
Now you would need a meter device of some sort look up the many we have in the data base.

Unless..............................................................................................................It is used as a mortar device where paintballs rain down on emimies. by fast do you mean fps wise, or rof?
in the upcoming presidential election, there will be several candidates who will be running, one of whom is Hillary Clinton. Now WAIT A SECOND!!! I though there was some sort of rule that prevented someone from serving more than two terms in office. Vote Against Hillary: Presidential Elections 08

Recruit, you yourself quoted the reason why this topic is fine:

"The exception to this rule is for proper use of legal airsoft and/or paintball markers. "

So, this is fine.

On a practical note, a propane cannon won't be able to sustain the ROF of even a crappy field PB gun. A crappy field marker will get 2 to 3 shots a second.

You'd be extremely lucky to get a shot every 2 to 3 seconds - even with automatic airing, mixing and propane injection, then you would find it hard to break 10 rpm (20 would be really pushing it). When every one else is getting 200 rpm, you'll get owned.

The practical chamber size would also be small enough to make even metering damned near impossible to get anywhere near accurate.

So if you can do it, then more power to you. I'd be in awe of a combustion PB gun with a decent ROF (the muzzle flash would look damned cool!), but I doubt even a really experienced spudder could get it to work that well.

However, I'll make some notes:

-If you do try, do it in metal pipe. Plastic won't take the strain very well.
-Get the right size of hydraulic tubing (.68 cal) - do it properly, not with some poor fitting barrel.
-Study some semi-auto or full-auto designs closely.

...I'm sorry, but that made my year.

joannaardway, "The exception to this rule is for proper use of legal airsoft and/or paintball markers" this means something that would be aloud in legal play. NO one will let him on their feild with that it would be a ticking time bomb in their eyes. Thus it is not a legal paintball gun. joannaardway think about it before you reply

You may not like being corrected, but Please, don't treat me like an idiot. I did think about it.

Let's set down points to agree to:
-We are allowed to discuss paintball guns. Yes?
-We are also allowed to discuss shooting people with paintball guns. Also Yes.
-We are allowed to talk about semi and full-auto - Of course.
-We are allowed to talk about combustion cannons - Please don't tell me this isn't allowed.

So where's the problem?

In the end, it's a paintball gun, intended for safe use firing at people. That is the critical factor.

Ok, it might not be safe in the end, but making that judgement before the thing's even built is a bit rude don't you think?

You can try and guide him away from doing something, but we can't stop him if he goes ahead - short of alerting the Feds and telling them he's a black market arms dealer.

I'm not certain what the mods and admins would think, but I think they'd probably agree with my view.

If they don't, and lock the topic, then accept my apology.
Until then, I stand by my points.

O support the topic, but i know that not many(if any) fields will let you shoot a propane powered gun. Pneumatic (like a law rocket or a mortar) yes, but even with that i have seen people not be able to use them (at scenario games). The problem with this is even metered propane the velocity created will be huge (unless ur chamber is tiny) and even if it is tiny it is not really regulated combustion wise. The only exception to this would be the new(ish) tippmann C-3 which uses the same exact amount of propane everyshot and regulates the air that is released so that a consistant velocity can be created. Even with the expensive machining and parts that the C-3 uses it only can manage 8 balls per sec. (and its a pump so doubt that you could shoot that) my gun gun will triple that speed, leaving anyone who uses a pump marker disadvantaged unless they have the skill alot of pump class players have.
