Im thinking your estimate is roughly 896 high! ( if he didnt type his figure wrong) and not to be rude but I think you misunderstood the question. He wants to know how many shots can be made with the air provided by a CO2 tank that was meant for paintball guns. This question I cannot answer personally, but give BoilingLeadBath 10 seconds and He could probably spit out an answer in 5 ( damn kid is a guru! ).
and did you make a typo when you stated that the chamber was 3 x 12 FOOT? that would be 36 square feet ( HUGE ). 3 inch x 12 inch? much more realistic, in which case it would STILL not make anywhere near 800+ shots.

By "3x12' chamber", he probably ment 12' of 3" pipe. This gives a chamber volume of aproximatly 13 liters.
As to filling capacity, the 12g CO2 chart (sticky, gen. questions section) lists a 12g cartriges as filling a 40 cubic inch chamber to 105 Psi. Converting 13 L to cubic inches gives 810 cubic inches, meaning that it will take roughly 20 times 12g to fill the chamber, or 240g. Assuming a 20oz tank, (and assuming that's mass, not volume) that gives you 2.3 fills.
Assuming I did that right.
The "897" is obviously in jest. Firstly, note the phrase "when it is packed to the brim". Secondly, one who would know how to calculate the filling capabilities of a CO2 tank <i>would have to</i> know that it varies with filling tank capacity. Thirdly, it's wrong.
Oh, and all 3 of those numbers are right next to each other on the keyboard, but I'm shure I'm looking too far into it now.
Oh, and this post took at least 15 minutes.[/i]
